A Lifestyle of Gratitude
November 20, 2010
The fourth Thursday of November is coming and that means Thanksgiving Day in the US. Though we in the Philippines do not have such celebration. We need not forget to be thankful. If at all possible, do it daily.
When we hit our beds at night and just before we close our eyes, why not make it a habit to remember what happened for the day and give thanks. If you happen to encounter problem remembering at least one, it does not mean that you are not blessed, you are simply ungrateful. Be thankful for the blessings and grateful for the testings.
Though we do not have a holiday for thanksgiving, we need not envy our US friends, except for Black Friday. Thanksgiving can be a lifestyle. Make it yours.

Paul, the German octopus that is said to be able to predict the outcome of Germany’s football games in the World Cup is said to be receiving death threats from fans.
The octopus has accurately foresaw the results of the German team’s games and has instantly became famous for that. This is the reason why the owner, and Paul himself, is receiving death threats from German fans. Recipes are even being sent out to the owner.
Food Chains Required to Post Calorie Info
March 25, 2010
President Barack Obama has signed on last Tuesday the new health care legislation. One part of this law requires that restaurant chains with 20 or more outlets must include the calorie information on their munus and drive-through signs. Implementation is expected to roll out as early as 2011. Aside from this big food chains, the said legislation also requires that food items in vending machines be labeled the same.
Kelly Brownell, director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale thinks that this is a historic development as Americans mostly eat outside of their homes where monitoring calorie information is difficult.
When this law takes effect, America might see a drastic change in the pattern people order in fast foods or they’ll see more hits on websites like xenadrine reviews.
South Talpatti Island, Wiped Out by Global Warming
March 25, 2010
Control over New Moore Island or South Talpatti Island, a tiny rock island in the Bay of Bengal, in the Sunderbans have been in dispute by India and Bangladesh for 30 years. What was not resolved by humans was now resolved by nature as the said island has been completely submerged.
This was verified by Sugata Hazra, an oceanographer and professor at Jadavpur University in Calcutta. Furthermore, satellite imagery and sea patrols confirmed that the island is now gone. Hazra commented, “What these two countries could not achieve from years of talking, has been resolved by global warming.”
The alarming rise at sea level over the past decade in the Bay of Bengal has been noted by scientists at the School of Oceanographic Studies. What used to be a 3 millimeter a year rise before the year 2000 is now rising at 5 millimeter rise annually for the last decade. At this rate, they expect other islands from the Sunderbans to be submerged and a large number of people displaced.

Wishing Amy Well
September 20, 2008
Last week I featured on TGIF the song Valerie by Amy Winehouse. I guess it is expected that when her name is brought up in a conversation, you cannot but comment on her not wanting to go to drug rehab. In fact, I immediately became critical of her when she became popular via the song Rehab. It was easy to dislike her especially when I have no inclination with that song. However, things changed.
Though I still respect her decisions, including her refusal for drug treatment, and her temperaments as an artist; I do wish she could straighten things up in her life. You may wonder why I had a sudden change of heart, three songs: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Tears Dry On Their Own, and Valerie.
Dayana Mendoza Of Venezuela Is Miss Universe 2008
July 16, 2008
I didn’t bother to watch the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant as I expect to see nothing new from it. From what I read from other blogs online, I’d say I didn’t even missed a tenth of my life for not watching it.
For the fifth time, Venezuela managed to take home the Miss Universe title; Miss USA slipped for the second time (Is this another bad omen for their economy?); and Miss Philippines was confident to take home the crown for the nth time but failed. On the other hand, this was the first time we saw Miss Universe took her farewell walk without a gown.
I guess with the recent pageant, a lot of ladies around the world have again grown conscious of their own figure. If you were planning to take some diet medicines like Miracleburn, it is always wise to research about the product first.
Happy slimming down to you all!
Will You Fit In Japan?
June 14, 2008
Hot off the e-press! Japan is setting a waistline limit for its citizen. As part of the country’s healthcare program, Japan sets a strict limit of 33.5 in. waistline for men and 35.4 for women. This measure (pun) will help the government to prevent deadly diseases related to obesity. Penalties for those who exceed the limit includes up to 6 months of re-education about proper diet and nutrition. So, it’s either you move it or pop some diet pills (of course with professional medical supervision).
