Bread for Life

October 21, 2010

I may be wrong but I am beginning to notice that the population is starting to be health conscious lately. Stores offering healthy meals and zero of this and that are on the rise. If so, this is good.

It is important that we watch what we are eating not only to look good but primarily to be healthy. The saying “Health is Wealth” is definitely unquestionably true. Aside from taking diet pills that really work, it is also best if we be aware of the breads we are buying in the market. I read an article that shares three ways to find the most healthy bread and I want to share them with you:

1. Choose breads made from whole grains like wheat, oats, and rye; over those made from refined grains. Whole grains contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

2. Stay away from bread with high amount of added sugars.

3. Choose those that do not contain soybean oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, safflower oil and sunflower oil. They rival with omega-3 fats which our heart and brain needs.

Health Check

October 6, 2010

It is high time that people start thinking about their health. I think we are exposed today to a lot of unnatural substances that can easily affect our well being for the worst. Such setting, worsen by our disregard for our health, makes us susceptible to diseases.

Overweight people should start getting serious of trimming down their weight. Obesity comes with other complications. Seeing a dietitian and a fitness coach would definitely help. For those considering to go the pill route, a thorough reading on phentermine reviews will definitely expand your knowledge regarding the pill’s pros and cons.

We often heard the saying that health is wealth. That is rightly so. It is good to start investing for it.

Be Aware of Mesothelioma

September 24, 2010

I often hear of the word mesothelioma but I really do not have a clear idea what it really is. So I did a few research and found out the it is a rare form of cancer that can be acquired by people who are usually exposed to asbestos.

This cancer cells affects the mesothelial cells which are found in the chest, abdominal cavities, cavities around the heart, and on the outer surface of most internal organs. Mesothelium produces liquid that lubricates the organs permitting it to move around.

Mesothelioma is primarily due to inhalation or digestion of asbestos. Common symptoms includes shortness of breath, difficulty in swallowing, cough, fever, and fatigue.

Knowing The Programs

September 23, 2010

I saw a television commercial the other day from the largest drug chain of the country about a diet pill that allegedly prohibits excess calories from turning in to fats. It seems promising but I am a little skeptical since the product is still new and I have yet to hear success stories about it.

If you will search the internet for the best weight loss programs, search engines will definitely show a lot of results. All of them promises that you’ll be shedding of weight in just a short time. However, not all of them gives promising results. I guess amidst the great number of programs, only a handful probably works.

I advice people that before paying fro subscriptions or memberships with such programs, make sure that you have exhausted your effort to know more about the product.

Breast Milk Is Still Best for Babies

September 23, 2010

We often hear from formulated milk commercials that breastfeeding is still best for babies. Have you ever wondered why is that so?

Most, if not all doctors, agree that breast milk is the best and most natural food you can feed infants because it have fatty acids, lactose, water, amino acids, and minerals in right amounts that is essential for the babies holistic development. Babies who are breast fed encounters fewer illnesses as compared to those who are not.

That is why it is important that mothers know how to increase breast milk production so as to nourish their child properly. Sadly, despite the disclosure, formulated milks are still patronized for the convenience it brings especially for working mothers.

Running Shoe Tips

September 22, 2010

People seems to be in to running these days. The sudden surge of marathon events proves this. If you are thinking of dashing your way in this activity, getting a good pair of running shoes is a definite must. Take my suggestion, get your pair from a specialty store.

Contrary to what some people think that items are more expensive in a specialty store, you could actually get the best value for your money in such stores. I got my first pair in a department store and ended up in a running specialty store later on because the shoe I got is hurting my legs during runs.

Here are some tips when buying your running shoes:

1. Buy late in the day where our feet have already expanded from all the walking we did throughout the day.
2. Bring the pair you are currently using during runs. Specialty stores are staffed with experts and they can easily recommend the appropriate pair for you just by looking at your shoes wear and tear.
3. Tell them about your running.
4. Be mindful of the fit. Make sure that you are comfortable in it. If you don’t like the fit, ask for a different pair.

Second Opinion

September 8, 2010

Have you ever experienced being misdiagnosed? It is a frightening thought especially if it’s a life and death situation. Money wasted may still be earned but lapsed time that might have been crucial to one’s health improvement or deterioration may never be gained back.

That is why it is important to seek a second opinion. Yahoo! published an article enumerating the 5 common misdiagnoses made by doctors and these includes the following:

Allergies might really be Vasomotor Rhinitis.
Torn Meniscus might really be Illiotibial-band Friction Syndrome.
Sinus Headache might really be Migraines.
Bronchitis might really be Asthma.
Appendicitis might really be an inflamed lymph node or a stomach virus.

They Keep Coming Back

August 7, 2010

Acne is indeed troublesome. I used to wonder why there are people who seems to be encountering it far more than some does. I was fortunate to be on the less affected side of the fence. Though I did had them, but they mostly appeared on my back instead of my face.

I am sure that anyone with this problem have tried to find a solution for it. Efforts ranging from formulated medication like acne pills to home remedies may have been tested. Though a cure may be effective for one person, it does not follow that it’ll be good for all. I believe that diet also has a big factor in it.

It is still best to visit your skin doctor and ask for a professional help.
