Skin and Summer

May 15, 2010

Women are more prone to worry about wrinkles than men. As hard as it is to fight back aging, the summer sun may aggravate things. It is best to observe the following especially now that temperature is hitting as high as 36 degrees:

Avoid the sun.
You may love your tan now but by the time you reach the age of 50, you’ll wish you’ve stayed indoors.

Use sunscreen.
It may not necessarily have to be a suntan lotion. There are everyday lotions these days that goes with an SPF rating.

Wear sunglasses.
This will help in protecting the area around your eyes. You certainly wouldn’t want wrinkles on it, do you?

Drink your water.
This will keep you hydrated. It is best to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

Chasing Scales

March 12, 2010

When 2010 kicked in and I realized that I was already 6 kilos overweight, I made a goal to lose it as early as I can and hopefully, attain 60 kilos by the end of the year. I have already lost 4 kilos but it seems that I am stuck to my current weight. It is disappointing to see the scale at the same number week after week when I have 2 more kilos left to lose.

Now that the first quarter of 2010 is ending, I want to add some more effort to my quest by being strict on my daily diet. I have comprised my “no rice policy” too often and have gave way to my sweet tooth on several occasions. Yes I am choosing to go natural instead of the weight loss drinks path. I want to sweat out on this one.

Fight Acne With Oatmeal and Honey

March 8, 2010

I have previously shared some remedies to fight acne and it wouldn’t hurt to share another home remedy – oatmeal and honey. Here’s how:

1. Prepare a single serving of “plain” oatmeal as you normally do when eating.
2. Add 1/4 cup of honey and make sure to mix it well with the oatmeal.
3. Let it cool for a few minutes.
4. Apply evenly to your face.
5. Leave it for 10-20 minutes before rinsing it out.

Those two ingredients are good home remedies acne treatment as oatmeals absorbs oil and exfoliates the skin while honey acts as a skin toner.

Ask a Professional for Treatments

March 5, 2010

Acne is one tricky problem of growing up and having people constantly noticing it makes it even worse. Too bad that the exact cause of acne is trickier in itself. Some blames it on genes and hormones, while some says it is with the things you eat. There are even alternative practitioners who says that it has something to do with the toxicity in ones liver or intestines.

Due to wide and varied reasons, I suggest that it is best to visit a dermatologist should you want to take serious actions about it. Do not just try anything you encounter on the internet. You can always click here to learn more then consult your doctor.

At the very least, always maintain a good hygiene especially in caring for your face.

Expecting Moms Should Watch Their Diet

February 19, 2010

Moms expecting their babies should make sure that what they eat and drink will not be harmful to their child. That is why women who smokes and/or drinks alcohol are advised to stop as this may cause problems in the child’s development.

There also certain foods that you should abstain from eating, at least for nine months, as they were found to be common culprits of food-borne diseases for pregnant women. These food includes: eggs, sushi, unpasteurized juices, and some varieties of fish. You might say that you are used to eating such food before so why the need to give them up now? It is because that a woman’s immune system changes during pregnancy and this food might now pose serious complications.

Also, make sure that your doctor approves the prenatal vitamin that you are taking. It never hurts to be more extra careful and consulting those who are really knowledgeable. This will help you to have a worry-free pregnancy.
