Calming Effect of Painting

May 14, 2012

When I was given the chance to try Chinese painting I wanted to give myself a chance to grow in the art. I was a little hesitant to try it a first but now, I would definitely want to acquire brushes and inks an item at a time. There is this certain calming effect in doing such painting. Add to it that every piece of creation is unique since you cannot recreate each brush strokes.

It would be fun to take a traninig course on Chinese painting if there is a school or learning center that offers it near our place. It’s a good breather from the toxicity of one’s work life. After it, might want to if doing a mix media with an airbrush machine is possible. Then again, maybe not.

Gift of Music

May 5, 2012

Accommodated some friends into music today. Seeing them makes me think how unfortunate I am to have no musical talent at all. I would definitely love if I could manage to master at least one instrument: gretsch guitars, or a saxophone, or a flute will do. I am just not sure if I’ll be able to live up to the commitment if ever I decide to take up lessons.

Mom would definitely love to lounge on the sofa and hear her kids play music for her. I very good Mother’s Day gift idea don’t you think so?

Planning for Emergencies

March 8, 2012

I just received my health card a few weeks back and I have been familiarizing myself with hospitals that are accessible from home just in case emergencies happen. There are a few things to consider when picking up an emergency hospital.

1. Make sure that the facility has a complete medical equipment. Transferring from clinic to clinic or hospital to hospital just to run several tests is a real inconvenience for someone who is already not feeling well.

2. Available and reputable resident doctors. Some people still prefer seasoned doctors from young professionals. Who can blame them? There is indeed wisdom that comes with age.

3. Charges and fees. The most expensive doesn’t automatically mean the most effective.

Sharp and True

March 8, 2012

Stay sharp and true.

This reminder is something worth keeping in living our day to day life. We should always maintain our alertness for opportunities that comes our way while being true to our own character. Do not try to change in to something you are not just for the sake of conformity. Speak your mind but when things doesn’t come as you want them to be, learn to support the majority’s decision.

You can be as sharp as diamond saw blades without hurting other people’s sensibilities. Learning such skill is an art worth perfecting.

Mobility Reliability

March 6, 2012

Amidst the booming market of tablet computers, I still want to get myself a good portable computer. One might argue that tablets have features that laptops does not have but the same applies vice versa – Photoshop and MMORPGs to name a few. So I plan of scouting for hp netbooks similar devices in the market. Hopefully, a good gadget sale will happen in the near future and I can finally own something I have long wanted ever since I saw the movie Hackers.

What brand of laptop do you own? Would you recommend it to a friend? Share some pros and cons.

Striking A Yoga Pose

March 6, 2012

When 2012 arrived, I promised myself that I will do my very best in order to be more physically fit. The first thing that I know I got to do is to bring my weight down to a running-friendly number. I have grown a few pounds lately and I know that if I try to run, I will definitely hurt my knees in the process.

Sadly, my efforts to shed those weights were futile. It seems like simply reducing my food intake is not enough. So last Saturday I decided to shop for yoga mats. I think yoga might do the trick in achieving my desired weight before doing jogging. Crossing my fingers thats this plan will actually work.

Mild Shock

March 6, 2012

A seven year old nephew of a friend recently got mildly electrocuted. The kid had this habit of plugging in any devices from Portable Play Station to mobile cellphones. Apparently, when he plugged in the device, he accidentally touched the terminal of the plug. Luckily, it was just a mild shocked but enough to send out the lesson never to play with electric outlets.

In order to avoid similar incidence, it is best that electric outlets have a plastic switch plate covers especially those not frequently used and are reachable to small children. This will prevent electrocution, mild or severe, and other electrical related incidents.

Cigar Is Power

February 27, 2012

There is a certain class in smoking a cigar. Not a cigarette but a good old cigar. It evokes authority and power, class and might. I’m not just sure if such feeling is universal or I’m just used to seeing the former president of the Philippines always carrying a stick.

I am definitely clueless on the “art” of cigar smoking and have no idea on the leading brands in the market. Though, I’m willing to explore the options starting with Cohiba. The important thing here is that you do not lose yourself in the exploration. Class as it may seems, smoking is definitely dangerous to your health.

Garden Therapy

February 27, 2012

One of the things mom would love to have in our residence is a spacious garden. She loves plants and would definitely be a lot joyful if she could grow tall trees in the yards aside from planting in pots. I miss the days when tall trees are not that hard to find. You could enjoy a lazy afternoon under it’s shade watching people passing by.

Having garden bridges seems to be a cool idea too. I would love to have a good number of koi fish swimming in the water running under it. I would definitely want a lawn where I could walk bare foot late in the afternoon.

Ah.. the joy of having a spacious garden.

Dreaming of Aurora

January 28, 2012

One of the things included in my bucket list is to see an aurora. I’m just not quite sure whether thing might even be possible considering that it’s occurrence cannot be exactly pinpointed and that it can be seen on countries quite far from mine.

But one can’t simply give up one’s dream. I’m hoping that one day I’ll have that chance without me exactly spending for the trip. Until that day, this will remain in my bucket list.
