Chasing Scales
March 12, 2010
When 2010 kicked in and I realized that I was already 6 kilos overweight, I made a goal to lose it as early as I can and hopefully, attain 60 kilos by the end of the year. I have already lost 4 kilos but it seems that I am stuck to my current weight. It is disappointing to see the scale at the same number week after week when I have 2 more kilos left to lose.
Now that the first quarter of 2010 is ending, I want to add some more effort to my quest by being strict on my daily diet. I have comprised my “no rice policy” too often and have gave way to my sweet tooth on several occasions. Yes I am choosing to go natural instead of the weight loss drinks path. I want to sweat out on this one.
Thinking of Going Back to School
March 12, 2010
I will be out for the afternoon to attend a friend’s graduation piano recital. It was her second degree course and wondered what the hell was she thinking going back to school. Of course that was just the pressure creeping up on her. In fact I myself would love to go back to school and take a masters or probably another course that is more on creatives. I just wished that school was as affordable as before. But times have indeed changed. If it’s finances for me, it is time management for some. Though they would love to enroll, squeezing it to their schedule is a little difficult with the work and family to juggle it with. However, one could always sign-up for an online degree and “go schooling” whenever it’s convenient.
No Need for a Cable TV
March 5, 2010
I am no TV guy. I rarely watch the tube except when occasionally watching the news. Though there are several television series that I love to follow, I would rather download the latest episodes than catching them on their time slots. Spoilers on the internet does not bother me as I have the liberty of not reading them. What hassles me is the need to watch the time just to catch those programs in their time slots.
That is why I don’t bother subscribing for a cable provider. Though there are times that I just want to sit down the couch and catch whatever is on HBO or anything on bell tv, but I am able to content myself in tuning in on local channels.
Blog Business Card
February 24, 2010
Have you ever experienced rushing to find a piece of paper and a pen in order to hand a newly acquainted blogger the URL of your site? Well I did. I used to think that having business cards containing one’s blog address a little over the top and vain. However, if someone you have had good conversation with is eager to check out your site, it is good to have these little things handy. So I decided to design one for my personal blog and have a few copies printed. You can process your copies using your own printer should you fail to find an affordable business card printing service. The idea is not to have something fancy to flash around but something to remind a new friend of your www address.
No Blackheads
February 22, 2010
I learned something weird from a friend when it comes to removing blackheads. He was applying a Elmer’s glue on his nose, lets it dry, and claims that some blackheads are actually removed upon peeling the dried glue. I really haven’t verified the effectiveness of such method as I didn’t bother checking the removed glue nor counting my friend’s blackheads.
Have you ever tried this method yourself? Did it actually worked? If not, have you found a more effective way to get rid of blackheads? Kindly share your story.
Internet Nightmare
February 21, 2010
If waking up having a severe acne outbreak are the teens worst nightmare, waking up with an unreliable internet connection are to tech people.
I am encountering difficulty loading Yahoo and it’s networks since last night and I do not know why. I have already done power cycling and resetting a couple of time and still no improvement. Calling for technical support has always been my last resort and if this does not improve later today, I think I have no choice but to call them up.
For now, I think I’ll just enjoy my Sunday afternoon with offline activities.
Sleep Catcher
February 21, 2010
It’s already past 12 midnight and I am still awake. I have a lot of things to do piling up on my desk and I dread my tendency of not doing anything when situations such as this happens. However, even though I choose to dump all of these for tomorrow, I am not sure that sleep will easily catch up on me. Believe me, I have seriously considered taking sleeping pills previously but I just can’t seem to have the opportunity to grab one. Plus, friends are discouraging me to take such desperate action and suggests that I drink a warm milk or listen to audio books instead. I’ll probaly give myself 30 more minutes before I plug in my earphones.
How do you manage to catch with your sleep?
Dreaming of Paris
February 12, 2010
Ever dream of doing a great European trip? I do. I see Europe as a region for arts and architecture. A sure feast for the eye. Sadly, visiting Europe from the Philippines will surely send one big blow to one’s pocket. It will definitely send me in to a technical knockout worst, a coma. Haha.
However, I am not giving hope. I still wish to see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Pantheon, and have a feel of Parisian living. Someday, I will have that vacation rental paris experience. Only God knows when.
Old School Rocks
February 4, 2010
Cellphones, laptops, netbooks, tablets, music players. We are in the age of mobile functionality and portability as gadgets become more powerful while decreasing in their size. Communications is just a hand held away. However, though I appreciate the accessibility they bring, I still love receiving a good old letter from the mail. The idea that someone actually went out of their way to write to you adds a more personal touch to it.
We are in the age where electronics reign supreme but the simplest and primitive ways still manages to brighten my day. This Valentine’s, take time to write your special someone a letter.
The Safety Net Called Insurance
January 22, 2010
I have always down played the importance of insurances until I actually met a vehicular accident. Good thing though that the only damage incurred is damage to properties and no living being was harmed. My appreciation came up after I received the actual repair estimate for our and the other party’s vehicle. It totals to around 65,000 pesos combined. If not for the insurance, where on earth will you get such amount?
My only problem is how slow processing the papers have become. It has already been more than two weeks and the repair have yet to start. I just wish that term insurance does not take such amount of time before it can be claimed.
