Saving on Power

November 8, 2010

Meralco has just announced that electricity is cost will be higher this coming month. This they say is due to the high cost of power in the market. With no other power provider, what we can only do is to manage our consumption so as it will still fall within our budget. Here are a few tips to do just that:

1. Check your refrigerators. Make sure that the gaskets are shut tight when the door is closed. If ice is getting thick, best to defrost.

2. Maximize the dishwasher. Use with full loads and let the dishes air dry after.

3. Clean your air conditioner’s filter. They work harder with dirty filters.

4. Switch on the power saver mode of your computer so that it hibernates during idle time.

Gender Compatible Diet Pills

October 27, 2010

With the empowerment of women, advocates often declare that there are nothing that men can do that women can’t. Jobs that were originally manned by men can now be occupied by women. To their credit, sometimes they manage to do better.

However, no matter how much advocates want to do away with the labels, there are things meant only for men and one of them is with diet pills. Women are advised to take a pill that is designed specifically for them since the two genders’ body is completely different. So the “experts” say.

But aside from the gender compatibility, the most pressing fact that we need to learn more is whether the product could actually deliver the results it promises.

Use Baby Oil In a New Way

September 23, 2010

We sometimes get too familiar with things we see daily that we often fail to think creatively towards it. Common items in our house can be used for different purposes aside from those intended if we could only see the possibility. Take for example the baby oil, latex paint can be removed with it by pouring a generous amount on a cotton ball and scrubbing it to the affected area of our skin. Necklace chains can also be easily untangled by applying baby oil to the tangled part then using a pin to pull apart the knots. Bandages can be easily removed without the pain of pulling hairs by applying oil over and around the bandage before pulling it off.

Preparing for the Rainy Season

September 22, 2010

It is still rainy season in the Philippines. This usually means the diseases are on the rise and it is best the parents protect their children appropriately. Make sure that your child always have an umbrella handy and raincoats are available at home. Since we are flood prone even in the city, it is best if boots for flood are also provided.

To give children a better chance against sickness, multivitamins will definitely strengthen resistance. It is better to be prepared these days. Do not take a chance when it comes to your child’s health.

Education Is An Investment

August 19, 2010

We often here how parents strive to put their children in to school despite the growing poverty in the country. Though there are a number of affordable schools, their quality is often put to question. Parents soon realize that it is not enough to send their child to school but to send them in a good one.

But let’s face it, tuition fees of top schools are not cheap. They will really leave a big hole in an average family’s pocket. But if you really want a brighter future for your child, this will be a good investment. You can also try searching for Top Online Schools if you want to go the unconventional route.

Sending a child to school is a pricey investment. It is therefore important to instill to them the appreciation of this privilege. Parents also need to spend time assisting in their school works. Do not just provide materially but make it a point that your child goes through education knowing that you’ll always be there.

On Buying Printers

July 30, 2010

With a number of printers out in the market, how does one choose the best-value one for him? First and foremost, you have to start with knowing what you need. Sure there are printers that are multi-functional but do you really need all those other features? If you’re a little short on space, replacing you scanner and photocopier with a printer that can do all of these do seems to be a good buy but also consider the frequency of use. Though a printer can have a copying capability, it does not follow that it can handle hundreds of reproductions daily. You might need a dedicated unit for that.

It is also best to consider the price and availability of the printer’s ink. If it uses a 108R00725 make sure that there is a store nearest your office that supplies those cartridges.

In times when finances are tough, it is best to consider everything you need when purchasing stuffs. Make sure that the cheapest finds will not result to expensive maintenance.

Debates On DSLR Brand

July 29, 2010

The endless debate on what DSLR camera to get continues to go on! We often hear this when a non-DSLR user decides to buy their first DSLR. The list usually is shortened between Canon and Nikon and I think the fans of both are sure to defend their brands intensively.

I do not want to engage in debates. I often advise people to go try both brands before buying. With the number of people owning a DSLR these days, it is not hard to find friends who own a Nikon and a Canon camera. It is best if you could give each one a try for a day and see where you are most comfortable with. Also, most importantly, check the output of each and if you could have it printed, print them. This will help you have a better judgment.

As some photographers say, it matters little if you own a Canon camera or a different brand as the real beauty of a photograph lies in the capability of the user to see beauty when framed.

When Buying Bullions

July 29, 2010

Though only a few people are in the business of buying gold bullion, it is good to know that there are in fact companies engaging in bullion business whenever you need one, some even offers gold IRA.

Whenever you buy gold bullion, make sure that the company you are buying from is of good reputation and has a number of more than satisfied customers. This is especially true when buying online. We should be more careful with this since online businesses have no or less accessible offices we can go to if problems arise. It is probably better to buy bullion in lesser quantity before buying the whole required amount. Use your experience on the first transaction to determine the efficiency of a company.

Golds and silvers are valuable items and should be handled by companies of good values.
