Litratong Pinoy: Ako

August 7, 2008

I am not expressive and this is the reason why most of the people who knows me thinks that I’m emotionless.

The eyes not only see, it also shows.

Ito ang aking lahok para sa Linggo ng Ako ng Litratong Pinoy. Maligayang Huwebes sa inyo at kita tayo sa mata sa Sabado. :D

Smart Move

July 30, 2008

I read from the news that in order to save on gasoline, some Americans are moving closer to their workplace. With this, they will no longer need to drive as work is just a walking distance away. Pretty clever huh!

A smart move I’d say. But a friendly reminder, be smart in transporting your valuables as well. Get a self storage service. You just might save your money on gas but lose a fortune on your stuffs.

Stick To Your Budget

July 28, 2008

Times are tough, earn hard! Better yet, spend wisely and learn to budget your earnings.

Unlike in the corporate scenario where a budget software is needed to balance out and forecast financial standings, handling our personal finances can be as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Be mindful. There are a lot of small expenses that we overlook but if accounted together will make a significant impact in our finances.

2. Make a budget. List down how much you get from all your sources of income. This will serve as a visual reminder of how much you are capable of spending. Make sure that you will not overspend for the duration of your next income.

3. Build accountability. It is hard to follow this through alone. Make this a family commitment or ask your friend to remind you whenever he thinks that you are spending on unessentials.

Art Film 101

July 25, 2008

Cinemalaya is in town again. I’m pretty sure that people who are into art film are really excited about it while art critiques will be as sharp as their pens. Here are some tips I’ve learned when watching art film:

Always have an open mind. Some genre may be intimidating, whether it’s a snobbish French film or a heart-warming Italian flick. Remember that watching film should be taken in a holistic perspective, from the script, cinematography, costume and set design, and the thespian skills of the characters.

Tips For A Post Summer Vacation

July 22, 2008

Though July is considered a rainy season in the Philippines, temperature remains 32C until a tropical storm arrives. The climate can still be considered as good as summer and some might think it is not yet too late to take out and use their swimsuits.

However, if you are planning to take a post summer vacation be sure to check the weather forecast for any signs of incoming storms. You do not want to be stranded off an island for two days with your resources running out. Worst, suffer a tragedy like that of the MV Princess of the Stars.

Make sure to carry extra cash, keep your cellphones fully charged, and bring a good amount of reason and logic to decide your course of action. Do not entrust your life in the decision of others.

Travel Light, Travel Bright

July 22, 2008

Whether going for a vacation or business purpose, traveling comes with both excitement and worries with it. I feel excited because I get to see a different place and a new culture. It’s an opportunity to learn and experience a whole new world other than my usual environment.

On the other hand, there is this worry that what if something happen to me while I’m away from home. If I get sick or had an accident for example, will I be able to take care of my medical expenses? Say war or terrorism or any uneventful circumstance takes my life, will my body be returned home to my family? Scary thoughts indeed but with how fleeting life is, it never hurt to get yourself a travel insurance.

There are a variety of policies available in market so be sure to read and determine the one that addresses your utmost concern.

Be Pimple Free

July 21, 2008

Pimple is a natural horror especially for teenagers. It seems that it knows the best time to come out to ruin one’s day. It is said that the best way to prevent it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle: eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get enough sleep at night.

If still not effective, here are some homemade remedy I found over the internet:

Rub a crushed garlic cloves on the area of your skin where a pimple pops up. The garlic will reduce swelling as well as cure the pimple.

Another homemade recipe is by mixing one teaspoon of lemon juice with one teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Apply this mixture and watch those pimples shrink!

I haven’t tried these homemade remedies yet. If you are therefore skeptical with it, better go to the nearest drugstore and ask for a pimple cream.

Litratong Pinoy: Luntian

July 17, 2008

A Good Reason To Go For LCDs

July 8, 2008

A CRT monitor consumes an average power of 140W during operation and 15W when idle. On the other hand, an LCD monitor consumes 55W and 2W only during working and idle operation, respectively. Clearly, a CRT is bad news for those trying to lessen their power usage.

Good thing is that an lcd monitor is more affordable these days compared to three years ago. Back then, this things costs around PhP15,000 and so people on a budget logically picks a CRT. Now, manufacturers have managed to slash down the price to half.

So if you are on a quest of saving the earth by going environmental friendly, go grab for yourself an LCD monitor.
