Drying Your Flooded Car

October 2, 2009

Typhoon Ondoy have ravaged the Philippines unexpectedly considering that it’s wind was not that strong. However, the large amount of heavy rain it poured left hundreds of families in Cainta, Marikina, and other provinces homeless.

I can’t help but have mixed feelings whenever I watch the news reports. I feel sad seeing the situation of the people affected but at the same time, happy to see how Filipinos gave new life to the bayanihan spirit. If you still want to give assistance to the victims of Ondoy, just click the banner on top of this site for ways.

For car owners whose vehicle got drowned in the flood, bringing it back to its top shape will definitely need more than cleaning the car mats. Make sure to tow it to a mechanic to have it overhauled and detailed. You may also find this article from Popular Mechanic helpful.

Perhaps the most popular ornamental pond fish variety these days are the koi fish. It is delightful to see a whole school of them adorned with their own colors and patterns. However, this variety are quite expensive with prices ranging from thousands to hundred of thousands of pesos depending on their size. With such price tags, those who owns them would naturally want to learn how to take care of these fishes. Below are some points one should take:

1. Use either mechanical, biological, or UV filters; but always make sure to keep the water in the pond clean.
2. If you have a concrete pond, make sure to use the right coating as concretes tend to increase the water’s PH level.
3. Feed the fishes with their favorite food.
4. Make sure that the pond have a steady supply of oxygen. Fountains or waterfalls can do the trick.
5. Make it a point to clean the filters and pond pumps at least twice a month.
6. Change water gradually to avoid sudden change in temperature.
7. If you notice one fish that seems sick, it is best to treat them immediately so that others will not get affected.

For more information on how to take care of them, make sure to consult with an experienced breeder.

Aging Dilemma

September 25, 2009

The effects of aging is something that disturbs most people: slower metabolism, skin blemishes, sagging skin. Without these, growing old would have been much nicer. However, its effects need not be that harsh if we have managed to maintain a healthier lifestyle at an early age.

If you are in your later years, it is not too late to start. Perform cardio exercises that your body can still handle, and eat a balanced diet. Staying fit is an active and conscious activity. You may also have to find some supplements, moisturizing products, and the best wrinkle creams in order to slow down the aging process.

It is always best to consult your doctor for health issues.

Modern Living TVs

September 8, 2009

Modern living is inevitable these days especially in the metropolitan area where population is denser. One must make the most out of the small space available. If something can be wall-mounted, mount it to save floor space.

One of the common appliance that can be mounted is the television. However, be careful in buying mounts since TVs, especially the flat screen ones, are quite pricey and you definitely wouldn’t want to see it crushing down the floor due to poor mounting.

If you are planning to buy a television and you are currently living with limited space, I suggest that you shop for TVs meant to be wall mounted. This often comes with a mount especially designed for the unit.
