Two Davids Were Too Much For Syesha Mercado
May 19, 2008
When I said at the start of the season that the next Idol might come from the daughters of Eve, I had Syesha Mercado in mind. Sadly, she was voted off from the Top 3 contestants last Wednesday.
I admired Syesha since Hollywood week for the spirit she displayed. She lost her voice on her audition day but managed to show a great performance on her second turn. She picks the vocally challenging songs most of the time all throughout the competition and after being in the bottom three for a number of times, ended up in the top three and became the last lady standing.
Bye Bye Brooke White

Brooke White had her final stand on the American Idol stage last Wednesday as she became the 20th contestant voted off from Season 7. She singing I’m A Believer is a mismatch. Her vocals lack the strength and the fun that made that song a hit in the first place.
I guess after hearing Jason Castro week after week, you can’t help but wish that he’ll offer something other than his usuals. Sadly, he seemed to stick to what is most comfortable to him and I think I am about to cry, “enough already!”.

Carly Smithson was the 19th contestant voted off from American Idol Season 7. She made it through the top 6 and was eliminated April 23 after singing “Jesus Christ Superstar” on Andrew Lloyd Weber Night. I’d say her performance was just okay. I’m not really that impress. Though I think Brooke White should have been the one to go.
Her performance which I admired the most was way back during Hollywood Week when she sang Heart’s “Alone”.
Hooked On Cook
April 21, 2008
No, it’s not yet TGIF time but I can’t help but share David Cook’s interpretation of Always Be My Baby. I’ve been listening to it for the whole day today.
What I like about this guy is the way he turns around the songs he choose to perform on American Idol. Take last week for instance, he successfully made a Mariah Carey song into something that the male specimen will not be ashamed to listen to. I cannot help but to look forward to his next performance because he can manage to pull off nice surprises most of the time.
Also, kudos to the arranger. It was an excellent job!

A lot of people watching American Idol were shocked when Michael Johns was voted off last week. Others were even offended with the way Ryan Seacrest announced it. I really think someone else should have gone instead of him. It was a shame that he was voted off after a good performance.

Anyway, tonight was all about Mariah Carey songs as she was the guest vocal coach of the episode. With her five octave range and chart topping songs, singing her songs will be a challenge everyone must overcome. Here’s what I think of tonight’s performances:
Naruto Manga 397: Sasuke Activates Mangekyou!
April 12, 2008
As Tobi was halfway in removing his mask, a strange thing happened to Sasuke when he saw Tobi’s right Sharingan eye. Blood started dripping from his left eye as his tomoe seal started swirling forming a Mangekyou Sharingan that automatically called Amaterasu to engulf Tobi who can’t do anything but to fall back into the darkness.
As the surprised Sasuke managed to get a grip of himself, Tobi explains that it seems that Itachi transferred his eye techniques to his younger brother before he died. He set it up to automatically activate Amaterasu at the sight of Tobi’s Sharingan either as a last ditch effort to kill him or to simply keep him away from Sasuke.
Michael Johns, Eliminated From The Top 8 Idol Aspirants

Between the other two bottom three, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado, it was Michael Johns turn to go in American Idol Season 7. It seems that I was wrong in saying that the trend will turn this week. I failed to watch this week’s episode and so I’ll be watching it on the web and do my “not-so-running-account” opinion on each performances.
On Inspirational Songs Night, Brooke White chose to sing “You’ve Got A Friend“. I think it was just fine. Nothing really impressive. The wave-your-arms-in-the-air-with-a-glow-stick feeling isn’t even there.
Ramiele Malubay’s Best Performance
April 7, 2008
Ramiele Malubay’s journey in American Idol Season 7 has ended as she was voted off from the competition April 2, 2008. Though not all “kababayans” were thrilled with her performances, particularly her song choices, making it to the Top 9 among thousands of aspirants is already an accomplishment she can be proud of. Idol, after all, is not an end in itself but only a door that will open up a lot of opportunity for this 20 year old gal from Florida.
Naruto Manga 396: Tobi Reveals Himself As Madara
April 5, 2008
Naruto Manga Chapter 396: Introduction - Wanting to personally witness the outcome of the battle between the Uchiha brothers, Tobi decides to rush out of his fight against the leaf ninjas. But before rushing out of the scene, Kakashi noticed that their opponent possesses a Sharingan eye and this left him wondering who they were up against.
Realizing the danger that awaits Sasuke, Kakashi leads the team to head out and immediately find Sasuke’s location before the Akatsuki gets there first. Using her Byakugan, Hinata spotted an area in the forest burning with a black fire. Kakashi immediately knew that it was Amaterasu and rushed out towards the place. However, Tobi beats them to the scene arriving at a speed of light.

As predicted, Chikezie bid farewell last week on American Idol Season 7. I guess managing to make it to this season’s top 10 is an opportunity he should already be thankful for.

David Cook was just okay this week. I am not familiar with his chosen song and it didn’t impressed me much.
