Multiply Has Now Partnered With Digiprint

February 9, 2010

Every Multiply user knows that they are able to order prints of pictures that they are browsing. However, for us Filipinos, such service might not be available for us or would cost much higher due to proximity of the printer. Those could have been the case but not anymore.

Multiply has partnered with Digiprint to offer customers in the Philippines a fast and affordable way to get prints of their Multiply photos.

Simply select the closest Digiprint store upon ordering your prints then go to that store to pickup and pay for the prints. Alternatively, you can also pay online and have your prints delivered free. Digiprint has more than 38 retail branches.

Yugatech asks: “If you’re stuck in an island with a phone and only have one call left, who would you call and why?”
Ronnie answered: I’ll call my lawyer and tell him “First relative who rescues me wins the estate!”

… and I won a 500-peso prepaid card for being one of the top pick answers in Yugatech’s Merry Tweetmas Contest!

Thanks YugaTech and to Globe!

Note: Don’t even try using the numbers. I have already loaded the call card. :D

Power Voting For Internet Explorer Users

November 3, 2009

Some browsers, including IE and Opera, are not able to recognize the coding of the Power Button code. Users of these browsers are then advised to create multiple bookmarks of the site instead. Below is how it is done using Internet Explorer 8 but the same principle can be applied to other browsers including Firefox and Opera.

STEP 1

  1. Go to http://heroes.cnn.com/confirmvote.aspx?id=06&lang=1
  2. Press CTRL + D to open the Add a Favorite dialog box.
  3. Assign a unique name so as to avoid being prompted to overwrite later on.
  4. Under “Create In:“, click New Folder.
  5. A Create a Folder window will pop-up. Type Power Vote as the folder name.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Click Add.

STEP 2

  1. With the same browser still open, again press CTRL + D.
  2. Assign a unique name for the page.
  3. Under the title “Create In:“, click the drop down arrow and select Power Vote.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Repeat this set as desired.

NOTE:
I advise not to bookmark more than 10 as the page loading becomes slow resulting to expired pages.

TO VOTE

  1. Go to Favorites.
  2. Click the button beside the Power Vote folder to open all bokmarked pages in a tab.
  3. Type in the blank field the code as it appears.
  4. Press VOTE.

Google Returns A “This Site May Harm Your Computer” For All Search Results

February 1, 2009

If you made some Google search around 8PM last night, you might have encountered the said result and may have wondered if Google has been hacked. Also, I noticed that some of my legitimate mails in Gmail were flagged and was sent to my spam folder. What happened? Google explains…

Very simply, human error. Google flags search results with the message “This site may harm your computer” if the site is known to install malicious software in the background or otherwise surreptitiously. We do this to protect our users against visiting sites that could harm their computers. We maintain a list of such sites through both manual and automated methods. We work with a non-profit called StopBadware.org to come up with criteria for maintaining this list, and to provide simple processes for webmasters to remove their site from the list.

We periodically update that list and released one such update to the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here’s the human error), the URL of ‘/’ was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and ‘/’ expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file. Since we push these updates in a staggered and rolling fashion, the errors began appearing between 6:27 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and began disappearing between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m., so the duration of the problem for any particular user was approximately 40 minutes.

WordPress TV Saves You From All Tinkering Injuries

January 20, 2009

Managing a WordPress site may come as a shock to those just starting out blogging. I understand their situation since the vast options you’ll see upon logging in is enough reason to be overwhelmed. However, these are just available options. If you take the time to know what each one is for, you’ll save lots of time the next time you publish your next article.

Fortunately, the people at WordPress have decided to come up with a video tutorial site – WordPress.tv. They have compiled the basics of managing your self-installed and .com sites. WordCamp videos are also included to keep you updated with the latest “talk of the camp”.

All in all, the site is your visual resource for all things WordPress. Enjoy!

Hosting Quest

November 23, 2008

I had a chat last night with a friend who is interested in putting up a niche website. As with other people who inquired to me before who have no background on the technicalities of running one, I started of by discussing the purpose of a domain name and a web host and how much they usually costs.

After that, I always get the same reaction from those inquiring… that it’s pricey. Pricey it really is if you fail to compare pricing and research customer reviews of the different hosting providers available in the web. Do not be readily enticed with plans offering approximately $3 a month without finding out what people are saying about the company because in the end, you’ll lose more money from a cheap but poor service.

Hosting systems could either be a Windows or a Linux. I’m thinking if this guys have used cisco machines or if that’s even possible.

Follow Me On Plurk

September 29, 2008

Subscribers of my blog might noticed that I rarely write about something these days. I’m not really that busy, I just have nothing worth writing that merits a blog post. So for the time being, I’m currently more in to plurking than in to blogging. This explains why I restructured my site’s home page. ;)

So if you still don’t have a plurk account, sign up for one and follow me to a more engaging conversation via micro-blogging.
