Dayana Mendoza Of Venezuela Is Miss Universe 2008

July 16, 2008

I didn’t bother to watch the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant as I expect to see nothing new from it. From what I read from other blogs online, I’d say I didn’t even missed a tenth of my life for not watching it.
For the fifth time, Venezuela managed to take home the Miss Universe title; Miss USA slipped for the second time (Is this another bad omen for their economy?); and Miss Philippines was confident to take home the crown for the nth time but failed. On the other hand, this was the first time we saw Miss Universe took her farewell walk without a gown.

I guess with the recent pageant, a lot of ladies around the world have again grown conscious of their own figure. If you were planning to take some diet medicines like Miracleburn, it is always wise to research about the product first.

Happy slimming down to you all!

The MV Princess Of The Stars Tragedy

June 25, 2008

MV Princess of the Stars capsized 3km from Sibuyan Island in Romblon at the height of typhoon Frank (international name: Fengshen) on June 22, 2008. The ferry was carrying over 800 passengers and as of the latest update, 70 were found dead, 48 survivors rescued, while the rest is still missing.

The shipping company Sulpicio Lines, a name that immediately rang a bell to me because of previous disasters, announced that they would pay P200,000 to the family of each casualty and give financial assistance to the survivors and their relatives.

Anyway, I advise you to regularly check the activity’s official website just to stay updated.

My Blood Boils Everytime I Hear The ZTE Deal

September 22, 2007

Joey de Venecia claims that the National Broadband deal of the government with ZTE is overpriced by $200M. This excess is said to go to the pockets of some of our honorable public servants. Funding for the said project will be loaned by the Chinese government which bottom line, will be paid by the already burdened Filipino tax payers. The nerve of them!

They [allies of the administration] are throwing everything they can at Jose “Joey” de Venecia III, casting him in the role of drug abuser, business adventurer cum scam artist, name-dropping son using his father’s position, not to mention liar. ((Ring of Truth by Solita Collas-Monsod, Inquirer.Net))

Joey not being “holy” and “perfect” doesn’t mean that he is not telling the truth. In fact, I do not care less about his reputation. His accusation merits probing regardless of his reputation.

My Change of Heart for Erap

September 10, 2007

If I were not suffering from LBM back then, I would probably be one of those students clamoring for the ouster of President Joseph Estrada six years ago.

What was now tagged as EDSA People Power 2 was the people’s spontaneous and peaceful way of expressing their disappointment in what seems to be an obstruction of justice. In the eyes of the people, truth was being suppressed.

In yesterday’s issue of Manila Bulletin, a full page paid advertisement came out which aims to remind the public not to be misled by the result of “commissioned and manipulative surveys” revealing that most Filipinos favor Erap’s acquittal. The ad has this sentence as its heading, “The law applies to all or none at all.” I totally agree with that. That is probably the reason why I do not give a damn if ever Erap gets acquitted.

Metrostar Ferry Sails To Cavite City

August 21, 2007

I heard from last night’s news that the Metrostar Ferry servicing from Cavite City to SM Mall of Asia and vice versa, will commence its operation today.

This will definitely be a great relief to some commuters since the point to point travel time of 1.5 to 2 hours via land will be reduced to almost half. The bad side however is that the ferry’s fare costs almost twice as much. I guess those who are seriously considering time as gold will be the ones to patronize this service.

For those who are interested in the ferry service, below are some informations that might interests you:

Thrilling The Net

August 11, 2007

Now with 4.6 Million views, nearing 13 Thousand comments, and tagged as favorite 25 Thousand times; the CPDRC inmates continues to thrill web viewers with their own brand of calisthenics. Will this feat land them a spot in the Guinness?

I have read some negative remarks regarding this practice. Some say that they are supposedly imprisoned to pay for their crimes and not to enjoy life dancing. Probably. However, if development and rehabilitation is possible, then why not? I think this practice is a breath of fresh air for the inmates and deserves a good welcoming.
