After The Revolution

February 27, 2011

There is a saying that goes that money can buy a good bed but not a good sleep. It simply teaches us that having a clear conscience is a better choice over acquiring ill gotten wealth. With way things are happening in the country, one can’t help but wonder if people attending Senate hearing on corruption in the Armed Forces of the Philippines are in a high dosage of sleeping pills.

Our country is in a disheartening stage. I cannot fathom how some people can plunder national funds considering that a number of families are unable to have three meals a day. Such callousness is unthinkable. Last Friday we celebrated the 25th year of EDSA Revolution. May we see a better people and a better nation in the coming years.

Racing Against Time

February 27, 2011

Time is indeed golden. But for those who hates the thought of aging, time is also rotten. Something to be considered as an enemy that you cannot simply defeat.

Defeating it is indeed impossible if you view time that way. We also need to realize that things bloom in time. It is also an agent of beauty and we need to appreciate the peak of it. In this life, things are temporal and so we need to enjoy every minute of it. It doesn’t mean that we need not take care of ourselves, using anti aging product that workswill slow down the process but should aging catch up on us, we need to embrace it fully. Doing this will help us fully appreciate life.

Triangle of Life During Earthquakes

February 26, 2011

Christchurch in New Zealand was strucked by an intensity 6.3 earthquake earlier this week. The quake was so strong that infrastructures were severely damaged: buildings collapsed and roads cracked.

We from the Philippines have seen similar cases here ans so my heart goes out to them. The most recent one we have seen was the 1990 earthquake which has brought great damage to Luzon. With its intensity of 7.8, it took with it several lives and properties as well.

Regardless if you are in a structure made form light materials or in metal buildings, it is important to keep in mind a number of earthquake safety tips. I guess the most important thing we need to know is where to hide. Keep in mind the “triangle of life principle”.

Lie down next to a sturdy piece of furniture so that when walls or ceilings fall against it, your chance of not getting crushed will be much higher.

Dreaming of Being a Master Chef

February 17, 2011

Ever since I saw Australia’s Junior Master Chef show, I have been wanting to learn how to prepare food. Seeing children as young as 10 years old working their way inside the kitchen is a real encouragement to me. Now that the Philippines will be having its own version of the show, I am thinking if also have such talented kids. I am hoping that there is.

Anyway, I am currently considering of mastering my own cooking. If I could “perfect” at least three dishes for this year, that would be something for me to celebrate. How I wish that I could use le creuset cook ware as I learn how to cook. That could probably make the process more enjoyable.

Photography Expenses

February 17, 2011

When a person is bitten by the photography bug, it is so hard to turn back. This is one hobby that can be extremely costly to those who are left unchecked. A DSLR with just a kit lens can range from 20,000 pesos to more than a hundred thousand depending on how advance the camera could be.

Lenses can also be a little pain. Unless one decides to focus only on one expertise, one would want a wide angle, a macro, a zoom, and a portrait lens at the very least. Add to it the filters, lights, flash, and other paraphernalias; this hobby could cost a fortune.

Wanting to turn DSLRs to a waterproof cameras will incur additional expenses. It is only practical that if one is into such hobby, one should also make a living out of it.
