Success Stories
January 25, 2011
Reading inspiring stories about success and perseverance renews my spirit. It is amazing to hear/read people’s journey in life and how they found triumph after several failures. Besides these, it overwhelms me to hear stories how one person manages to reach the top of an industry that he is not originally a part of. Stories like that of Rocky Patel.
During the 90′s, Rakesh Patel is the person who introduced the Indian Tabac blend. He was originally an attorney representing Hollywood stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gene Hackman. It is during the time he spends smoking cigars with actors did he develop his interest in the tobacco industry. He left his practice, moved to Honduras to learn the trade and by 2003, he launches a collection of cigars that was named “Best of the Best” by the Robb Report.
His story teaches me to be unafraid of breaking the mold. A person need not burden himself continuing doing the things he dislikes but grew up with. We should all search for our own path.
Weather Adjustments
January 25, 2011
It is often said that too much of anything is not good. This also applies to weather conditions. May it be in extreme heat or extreme cold, you’ll definitely hear people complaining. That is why affluent family makes it a point to own devices that can set the environment to be just right. Enter the air conditioners, heaters, and dehumidifiers.
In tropical countries like the Philippines, air conditioners are a great relief when the temperature starts rising. Other countries value a good basement moisture and may deem dehumidifiers to be more important than the former. What ever the situation may be, we cannot help but make the necessary adjustments to make our condition to be more comfortable. Too much of everything is counter productive after all.
Younghusband’s Celebrity Crushes
January 25, 2011
Azkal’s striker, Phil Younghusband, recently revealed two of his celebrity crushes: Angel Locsin and KC Concepcion. Both actresses are ABS-CBN contract stars.
“They are both very pretty and they’re always on billboards and you see them a lot. They are very attractive,” he said.
The revelation was made last Monday during the contract signing between ABS-CBN and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). ABS-CBN will be airing all of the team’s games this year.
Body and Water
January 20, 2011
We were often told to drink plenty of water daily. Ideally, 8 glasses of water. Sadly in the Philippines, as I observed, water takes the backseat compared to cola and juices. Studies say that any liquid we drink that is not water, takes the same amount of water off our body. Meaning if you completely substitute water with cola, you’ll have a water deficit. Not only do we need to meet the recommended intake but water should stay in our body long enough to nourish our system.
There are instances however that we need to increase urine flow. Particularly in cases of edema, kidney failure, and glaucoma where removal of excess water, salt, and other wastes help relieves patients. Diuretic food will help make this happen. You can click here for more food that reduces water retention.
Cat or Dog
January 19, 2011
I have been wanting to have a pet for quite some time now. This feeling started when I learned of a cat up for adoption and when I have decided to finally take him in, some else have already took him.
Right now I am still undecided if it will be a cat or dog and what breed it will be. I am still a little hesitant if I’ll be able to live up to the responsibility of owning one. Specifically, toilet training them. I would definitely need a cat or dog training aids to make things easier for me.
Wish me luck! ^^
Liam McIntyre Is The New Spartacus
January 19, 2011
Starz’ Spartacus: Blood and Sand TV series will be having a new lead actor. Andy Whitfield will be replaced by 28 year old Australian actor Liam McIntyre as the former battles against Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Liam might be familiar to Australian households as he have already appeared in one of the long-running soap “Neighbors”. Whitfield was reported to be very supportive of the recasting.
Before Season 2 starts, the prequel “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena,” will be aired starting January 21 and will star Lucy Lawless and John Hannah.
Bag Quest
January 16, 2011
I have long been wanting to replace my backpack. It is a little worn-out already and the OC in me cringes at seeing its loose stitches. Sadly, finding a replacement is not that easy. Do you also experience the same thing? Having a hard time finding one when you need it and seeing a lot when you are not looking for one?
My ideal bag should be a backpack that is unique and unconventional. Otherwise, it should at least be functional and durable. If I find even a wrestling backpack that meet all these, then I’ll gladly get one for myself. Wrestler or not.
Between Cooking and Washing
January 15, 2011
We had home cooked food today for lunch. We had this rice-grain-shaped pasta that my sister sent from Greece. It was cooked like paella. As much as I want to learn how to cook, I really do not have the will to master the task. The only thing I can do is fry and boil. That’s it. So in order for me and others to enjoy a hearty meal, I leave cooking to those who are more capable. I am very much happy settling for a job in the kitchen sink. That is my part in this dining orchestra.
Go For a Reliable PC
January 12, 2011
In any business, having an appropriate set of computer to do the job is always a good thing. It is not wise to invest in units with specifications that does not meet the job requirement. Settling for them due to budget constraint decreases productivity. You may actually lose more than what you have saved.
Big computing jobs require a reliable industrial pc. Things are done at a faster time and more jobs are performed. This will definitely increase productivity. Also, it reduces the worker’s frustration resulting from unreliable units.
Fit For The New Year
January 12, 2011
With the new year, resolutions were again formulated and most probably than not, it includes being fit. Studies say that gym memberships spike up every January but gym attendance starts to dwindle down by end of February. There could probably be several reasons for this but I guess the most common is that results do not show immediately as expected.
Contrary to what some people believe, being fit is not all about going to the gym. It also involves the right diet. If the latter is not kept in check, regularly visiting the gym may be futile. Discipline will definitely play a big role in this quest and more than taming the body, it is a must to tame the will as well.
