Holy Week 2010
March 29, 2010
This week is already Holy Week and a very long weekend is upon us. With the way gadgets and technology have boomed, spending Holy Week is no longer the same compared to few years back.
When I was younger, I do not like this season. There were absolutely no show on television and we were prohibited by our parents to have fun. I was even not allowed to play and run. Now TV networks have special Lenten shows and with netbooks and portable game consoles, no kid will ever be bored.
People going on vacations have also increased during this season. A few years back, the only people traveling are those who are going back to their provinces. Now, people going to Boracay, Puerto Galera, Baguio, and other summer destinations have also increased.
I welcome such changes in our times but I hope that we may not totally forget to reflect on our lives and thank God for the things He has done for us.
I wish you all a meaningful Holy Week.

Food Chains Required to Post Calorie Info
March 25, 2010
President Barack Obama has signed on last Tuesday the new health care legislation. One part of this law requires that restaurant chains with 20 or more outlets must include the calorie information on their munus and drive-through signs. Implementation is expected to roll out as early as 2011. Aside from this big food chains, the said legislation also requires that food items in vending machines be labeled the same.
Kelly Brownell, director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale thinks that this is a historic development as Americans mostly eat outside of their homes where monitoring calorie information is difficult.
When this law takes effect, America might see a drastic change in the pattern people order in fast foods or they’ll see more hits on websites like xenadrine reviews.
South Talpatti Island, Wiped Out by Global Warming
March 25, 2010
Control over New Moore Island or South Talpatti Island, a tiny rock island in the Bay of Bengal, in the Sunderbans have been in dispute by India and Bangladesh for 30 years. What was not resolved by humans was now resolved by nature as the said island has been completely submerged.
This was verified by Sugata Hazra, an oceanographer and professor at Jadavpur University in Calcutta. Furthermore, satellite imagery and sea patrols confirmed that the island is now gone. Hazra commented, “What these two countries could not achieve from years of talking, has been resolved by global warming.”
The alarming rise at sea level over the past decade in the Bay of Bengal has been noted by scientists at the School of Oceanographic Studies. What used to be a 3 millimeter a year rise before the year 2000 is now rising at 5 millimeter rise annually for the last decade. At this rate, they expect other islands from the Sunderbans to be submerged and a large number of people displaced.

Things To Do If You Can’t Jog
March 24, 2010
I have already shared in a previous entry that I am taking the week off from running due to a shin splint. However, it doesn’t mean that I am totally doing zero physical activity. There are absolutely more than one activity that one can do aside from running.
1. Do some light exercises. Perform light work outs that will help strengthen your feet and legs.
2. Perform a general house cleaning. This activity is more than enough to make you sweat. I say that this is actually twice as productive. ![]()
3. Take a walk in the afternoon. You can even take your dog with you.
I say that this activities are also effective fat burner. But I do miss jogging.
I Love to Run
March 22, 2010
I will be taking a week off from jogging. I think I had a shin splint injury last Saturday when I suddenly increased my stride. Legs could not take the shock. I am hoping to recover and be back running next Monday. I think I got to get a gait analysis and buy the appropriate shoe.
Running has been a rewarding activity for me in terms of weight loss. I wouldn’t actually be getting in such activity until my Mom told me that I already need to lose some weight. Incidentally, a friend was into jogging and I decided to join him one weekend morning. I have already lost 11 lbs. That can be added to a list of weight loss success stories.
I came to love the activity and I’m hoping to build a stronger feet and legs to do away with the pain that usually happens when running.

Are You Fit To Be a Salesman?
March 13, 2010
Graduation season is here and a lot of fresh graduates will soon find themselves lining up in jobs fair, browsing the Sunday ads, or surfing some online recruitment bank. Job hunting!
One of the most common job postings you can see are jobs in sales. Such work is both tiring and rewarding at the same time. Convincing people to buy a certain service or product is a gift only some people possess. I have observed that there are people who can talk through anyone with breeze. Of course it takes the right combination of a believable/necessary product and a skillful salesman. Such people reaps rewards like commissions and bonuses that people under operations have no access to.
So if you think you belong to the salesman type, pursue it and reap some great rewards for it.
