Riding Breeches 101

December 18, 2009 · Filed Under All Entries, Diversion

One of the apparel that is needed in horse back riding is a breech, riding breeches to be exact. They were originally tight on the legs and extends halfway down the calf. Modern designs and materials however have managed to do away with the laces and buckles utilizing spandex, zippers, and velcros.

Anyone who dreams of being an equestrian should invest in good and comfortable riding breeches. Thus, knowing the main types will be of good benefit:

1. Knee patch breeches;
2. Full seat breeches;
3. Jockeys’ breeches (aka silk); and
4. Jodhpurs.

Since horseback riding involves form, it is important that the rider familiarize himself with the types of breeches and choose one that he will be comfortable with.

Happy riding and saddle up!
