Sending Our Nurses Out

With the multitude of tertiary courses being offered today in the Philippines, you could really count with your fingers those courses which have in demand graduates. One of them is nursing.

There are professions that are highly needed locally but not globally or the other way around, but nurses are needed in both. Sadly, due to a high demand internationally, which of course offers much better pay, our local health department is suffering as nurses seeks greener pasture. International demands are in fact so high that some doctors chooses to enroll in a medical assistant training school in order to qualify for jobs abroad.

I could not blame these nurses and doctors. Though it is noble to serve one’s countrymen, we also have our family to sustain. After all, nursing is a profession. Nurses parents’ primarily sent them to school in order to help the family financially.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
