Wishing You a Blessed Christmas
December 24, 2008
Tomorrow is the day where most people in the Philippines are jolly. Amidst the difficulties we are experiencing, I am wishing you all a meaningful Christmas. We all know that Christmas is not just all about the material gifts but I know how hard it is to break a culture shaped by long years of commercialism. May we all be blessed by with joy, love, and care that this season brings.
This will be our family’s second Christmas with my sister abroad. We do miss her.
On the 26th I’ll be on a “great” Ilokos tour with two of my friends. My computer’s system memory is now running low as I am converting a lot of videos for an expected 8-hour trip. I do plan of posting pictures either here or in my personal blog – Roniverse.com. If you are following my Plurk timeline, expect timely updates from it as well.
Faithfulness in Prayer
December 21, 2008
Now there was one, Anna, …a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. (Luke 2:36-37)
Your faithfulness allows God to reveal greater insight to you than to the less faithful. Faithfulness brings opportunities to you that are not given to the unfaithful. God takes pleasure in answering prayers that come from a faithful heart.
Anna had been a widow for many years. In her day, a widow had little status in society and was virtually helpless on her own. Anna spent her time, day and night, in prayer and fasting in the temple. As she prayed, she yearned to see the Messiah. God chose few people to encounter the Savior when He was born, revealing His Son only to those whose hearts were faithful and pure. Anna was one of those few. Jesus would later say to His followers, “Blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear . . . it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the_kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given” (Matt. 13:16, 11).

Second Opinions
December 5, 2008
These days, you get to hear more people dying of cancer than heart attacks. A friend’s dad started experiencing stomach aches a few months back and decided to see the doctor. The good doctor found it not that serious and prescribed him with some medicines. However, the pain did not go away and so he decided to ask for a second opinion. The second opinion learned that its an early stage of cancer. After an operation to remove the infected part and a complete session of chemotherapy, my friend’s dad is doing okay but is still in regular checkups.
This incident taught me an important lesson. Always ask for a second opinion especially when things aren’t getting better after seeing a doctor. Do not gamble your life by being complacent. There are other rare cancer occurrences out there like asbestos-caused cancer that might even become more hard for doctors to diagnosed unless they are Mesothelioma lawyer or doctors.
Busy Thursday
December 5, 2008
I have been busy lately. I was preparing all day for a training guide to be held this Saturday and my eyes are now hurting. I used to like the idea of me wearing eyeglasses but optometrists say my eyes are still good to go.
Now, I’m unsure of the idea of wearing prescription eyeglasses. It will certainly be a disadvantage when I shoot pictures using my DSLR and I think that it will be uncomfortable when driving or playing video games.
Anyways, I have to give my eyes some rest now. I hope everything turns well this Saturday. The guys will probably be having some major nosebleed. Topic? Tweaking WordPress themes. Goodluck!
Preparing For The Future Means Preparing For The End
December 3, 2008
Despite the Biblical teaching that we should not worry about tomorrow, most people just can’t help it. However, preparing and worrying are two different things. We can prepare without worrying. So saving for the future is a generally accepted concept. The question is how far in the future are you preparing?
I guess preparing for the future involves preparing for the end. Soon, we’ll all reach the age when life stops giving us things and starts taking them away. People we love will start leaving us and later on, we have to depart the world ourselves.
For those who have things to leave, they should make sure that their last will have been finalized. This will ensure that our loved ones will receive the things we want them to have. A last will also prevents discord. Another important preparation is having a memorial plan and life insurance. You may check the local term life insurance quotes available and get the one you need.
Morbid as it may seems, it never hurts to be prepared.
Movie Marathon
December 2, 2008
How did you spent your long weekend? Did you enjoyed a fine dinner with your family? Did you go on a nature trip with your friends? Or were you like me who spent the day in the house?
I have been downloading a lot of movies lately and I decided to do a movie marathon last weekend. I specifically enjoyed “Kung Fu Panda” and “Identities”. On the other hand, I was bored to death watching “Nightmare Before Christmas”. It took me two sessions to finish the movie as I dozed off at the middle of it. Also, I did a marathon on The Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Book 1.
I’m still downloading some movies reserved for future viewing. Included are the trilogies of Back to the Future, Jason Bourne Collection, The Matrix, and Indiana Jones. This means that the homepopcorn machines will still be busy popping corns.
