Weariness
November 30, 2008
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)
If you find that Christianity exhausts you, draining you of your energy, then you are practicing religion rather than enjoying a relationship. Jesus said that a relationship with Him would bring rest to your soul. Your walk with the Lord will not make you weary; it will invigorate you, restore your strength, and energize your life.
Watch The Pacquiao – Dela Hoya Dream Match
November 29, 2008
Las Vegas will once again host one of the biggest boxing fight this year. The Dream Match, as promoters called it, can be seen on selected SM Cinemas on December 7 at 8 in the morning. Tickets range from 300 to 550 pesos depending on locations.
For those in a tight budget, the event will be aired on DZBB and GMA 7. However, I’m guessing that this will be on a delayed telecast as with previous fights. Expect as well some free public viewing that might be organized in gyms, courts, and bars.
Those who have the means brought about by pork barrels, corruption money, and a good-profit business will most likely fly to vegas to watch the event live. Some, if not most, will be cheering with all their might, not for the Philippine pride but for the possible winnings they could take back home.
Capture Your Precious Moments
November 25, 2008
We are down to a full month before Christmas and if you still don’t have a camera to capture the season’s feel and precious moments, might as well grab one now especially that digital cameras are priced much lower comapred to three years ago.
The first camera I bought was a Canon Powershot A85 priced then for today’s Nikon d40 DSLR. Though you may say it was pricey looking back, I had fun using my Canon Powershot. I was able to enhance my framing skills and established a color contrast preference. Aside from that, I am now preserving 6 CDs of memories all shot using that digital camera.
If you are out looking for a Canon Powershot to fit a $300 budget, might I suggest the following: Canon Powershot S5 IS, Canon PowerShot SX110 IS, or the more compact Canon PowerShot SD750.
Hosting Quest
November 23, 2008
I had a chat last night with a friend who is interested in putting up a niche website. As with other people who inquired to me before who have no background on the technicalities of running one, I started of by discussing the purpose of a domain name and a web host and how much they usually costs.
After that, I always get the same reaction from those inquiring… that it’s pricey. Pricey it really is if you fail to compare pricing and research customer reviews of the different hosting providers available in the web. Do not be readily enticed with plans offering approximately $3 a month without finding out what people are saying about the company because in the end, you’ll lose more money from a cheap but poor service.
Hosting systems could either be a Windows or a Linux. I’m thinking if this guys have used cisco machines or if that’s even possible.
Crouching at the Door
November 23, 2008
If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it. (Genesis 4:7)
When temptation enters our hearts and minds, we either deal with it and gain mastery over it, or it eventually leads us to sinful actions. The time between the initial temptation and the chosen response is critical. Much hangs in the balance.
Cain knew that God was displeased with him but pleased with Abel. Feelings of jealous anger crept into Cain’s heart, and thoughts of murder pervaded his mind. As Cain considered what to do, God’s word came to him. God warned him that sin was waiting at the door of his life, looking for an opportunity to enter. Now was not the time to treat temptation lightly, not the time to assume sin would never cause any harm. Now was the time to master the sin and renounce it before it overcame him. Tragically, Cain did not master his sin; instead, sin overtook him and destroyed his life.
Weight Loss Tips Needed
November 22, 2008
I just said the other day how I wanted to meet my ideal BMI. Sadly, I haven’t yet done any of those activities. Yes, procrastination. It’s quite difficult to wake up early to do brisk walking when the Christmas weather, which is so conducive for sleeping, is almost here.
Today I read a Plurker who realized that he is also weighing beyond his ideal. With Christmas just 33 days from today, losing weight will require more will power. Have you had any problem with your weight as well? How did you manage to shed those excess pounds? Did you resorted to diet pills like alli?
I Would really appreciate if you could share your success stories.
Welcome, Lexine
November 22, 2008
It has been more than a year since this couple friends of mine worn their engagement rings and eventually got married December of 2007. I knew then that this was not the finale of their 10-year relationship but the beginning of something more wonderful. Now, last November 17, God have blessed them with their firstborn child, Lexine Raine V. Bernal.
Marlyn’s labor didn’t turn out to be that smooth and I was sorry for not being there with Jeff during those times. Perhaps God, as he thought, intended that the news not reach me so that he’ll have no one to depend on except Him.
Anyways, congratulations! I am always happy to see new things unfold in your lives.
Cheers Amidst The Crisis
November 21, 2008
Despite the growing world economic problems and people losing jobs, we must still keep our hopes up and continue living life with joy. If you lost your job, find a new one.
I know that it is not as easy as it sounds to be as I also have my own share of disappointing experiences. However, this should not prevent us form enjoying life. While checking on the classified ads, why not take time to read their comic section as well. While browsing for sites specializing in jobs in business, why not listen to feel-good music.
I know that this will not pay the bills but will worrying and sulking does? Live life. Enjoy life.
Meeting My Ideal BMI
November 20, 2008
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
I read that from Paulo Coelho’s blog and I thought it was funny. We will all eventually die but I would not want to go too early. So again, for the nth time, I want to do something to meet my ideal BMI. I plan to do brisk walking in the morning and lessen my rice intakes. I’m also reading this article on how to boost my metabolism and is considering to take a green tea fat burner.
I just hope that I can sum up the will to carry out this plan the soonest lest it becomes one of those New Year’s resolution that ends up becoming nothing.
Do You Go For Pre-Loved Items?
November 17, 2008
The market for second hand items is growing. We are seeing two types of consumer with this growth: The reseller who is most likely upgrading to a newer model of the item and the buyer who settles for a not-so-updated version for a much lower price.
If you are more of the former, I suggest that you take care of your gadgets to maintain a higher resell value. Invest in protective cases and films and make sure to keep the box, manual, and other peripherals that came with your gadget. When upgrading, make sure that the improvements added to the device is worth the upgrade. Lastly, be an honest reseller.
On the other hand if you’re a pre-loved buyer, make sure to check the item thoroughly. If you could schedule a meet-up before paying for the item, do so. You wouldn’t want to purchase a gadget that looks mint in the pictures yet looks otherwise when you open the delivered package. If buying in a bidding site, check for comments and feedbacks about the reseller so as to minimize the possibility of being scammed.
If you are planning to buy pre-loved Sony Playstation Portable, iPods, mobile phones, cameras, and even used cisco equipments; you can easily find one online. However, exercise caution and be an intelligent buyer. You can never be too trusting these days.
