No Golf At The Olympics

To date, more than 500 medals have been given away at the 2008 Beijing Olympics for events like swimming,tennis, rowing, kayak, and archery among others. However, the Olympics have yet to give out medals for golf since 1904.

It has been a century since golf was included as an official sport in the Olympics and with the wide popularity of the sport, people can’t help but ask, “Why?”.

Some speculates that it is because golf have already enough international tournament and that golf superstars would rather covet a green jacket or a claret jug than an olympic medal. This is bad for the Olympic networks and sponsors. Others think that building an Olympic-level facility for an event that is appealing only to westerns is not worth the expense.

Let’s look at the bright side. Golf fans can temporarily take a break from the sport and enjoy any of the 32 Olympic events until the organizers decide to take out the golf shoes out of the box.

    aba honga ano. Di ko alam na wala palang golf sa olympics. ngayon ko lang napansin. I checked the official events of the olympics wala nga dun ang golf. Bakit nga kaya?

    Mayroon bang ballroom dancing sa Olympics? Napanood ko ang Sync Diving for the first time. It’s pretty amazing…

    maraming salamat sa pagbisita. :D wala pa atang ballroom dancing pero may mga taong nagwo-work para mapasama ang dance sport. sync swimming din ang isa sa mga paborito kong panoorin sa olympics. :D
