Two Davids Were Too Much For Syesha Mercado
May 19, 2008
When I said at the start of the season that the next Idol might come from the daughters of Eve, I had Syesha Mercado in mind. Sadly, she was voted off from the Top 3 contestants last Wednesday.
I admired Syesha since Hollywood week for the spirit she displayed. She lost her voice on her audition day but managed to show a great performance on her second turn. She picks the vocally challenging songs most of the time all throughout the competition and after being in the bottom three for a number of times, ended up in the top three and became the last lady standing.
The Cost to Others
May 18, 2008
![]()
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. (John 19:25)
There is no Christianity without a cross, for you cannot be a disciple of Jesus without taking up your cross. Crosses are painful, they forever change your life, but sometimes the greatest cost will not be to you but to those you love. You may be prepared to obey the Lord’s commands, whatever they are, because you’ve walked with Him and know that His way is best. Yet there will be those close to you who have not related to Jesus in the same way and have not heard His voice as clearly.

Review: Blog Oh! Blog
May 12, 2008
Ever since I moved from Blogger to WordPress, I have been in constant search for simple and yet elegant looking themes. I make it a point to bookmark themes I liked for future use in any of my site. Out of a number of WordPress theme designers out there, only a handful never fails to impress me and one of them is Jai Nischal Verma of Blog Oh! Blog.
Unlike some who comes up with several theme styles using the same design structure, every Blog Oh! Blog themes are uniquely designed from each other and most importantly, are offered FREE! Some premium themes are also available for those who wanted to have a more professional looking blog but don’t get the notion that the free ones are poorly done. In fact, I am currently using one of his free themes for my photoblog.
Fix Your Eyes on God
May 11, 2008
And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” (Numbers 20:10)
It is easy to see why Moses became frustrated with the Hebrew people. They were so hard-hearted and weak in their faith that Moses lost his patience and became angry with them. Yet every time Moses shifted his focus away from God, it cost him. When he sought to help his people by taking matters into his own hands, he spent the next forty years herding sheep in the wilderness_(Exod. 2:11–15). This time his impetuous behavior cost him the opportunity to enter the Promised Land (Num. 20:12). In his frustration at the peoples’ irreverence, Moses committed the very same sin, blatantly disobeying God’s instructions. How did this happen? Moses allowed his attention to shift to the behavior of others rather than focusing on the activity of God.

The World Awaits Again

Oscar “The Golden Boy” De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are two among the boxing giants whose names will definitely ring a bell even to non-boxing fans. Their May 2007 fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was a certified box office hit beating the financial record of the Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson bout.
With De La Hoya losing his WBC light middleweight championship belt by a split decision to Mayweather; and a record earnings of $134.4 million in pay-per-view revenue and $18.4 million in live gate, you cannot but expect that a sequel will definitely follow.
Ferdz Decena’s Living By Water
May 6, 2008
If you are an admirer of great photographs and is free any day between May 12 to 27, make sure to check out a good blog friend’s first one man monochrome photo exhibit at the Filipinas Heritage Library in Makati City.
The exhibit is themed “Living by Water“. In his blog, Ferdinand Decena explains what the exhibit is all about…
From time immemorial, civilizations have thrived and lived near bodies of water. The reason is crystal-clear: water is vital to man’s existence. It is the reason why this exhibition pays homage to water and its significance to how and why people live by the water. Featuring photos that tell stories about the coastal Filipinos’ living conditions, reveal their culture, and relate their stories of survival.
The exhibit will carry a raft of striking images from across our archipelago. The Badjao Stilt Villages of Basilan. The Muslim Stilt Village of Rio Hondo in Zamboanga. The fishermen of Siquijor. The T’bolis of Lake Sebu. The rugged shores of Itbayat in Batanes. And the tranquil coasts of Iloilo.
Checkout En Route for the gallery schedule, location map, and other details of the exhibit.
