WordPress 2.5 Was Days Early For April Fools

April 2, 2008 · Print This Article

Well that seems to be a strong negative title but I just got really dismayed because of a problem I encountered upon uploading images from my computer.

I searched through their forums and learned that I am not alone in this predicament as a number of threads have already been created with the same issue. I tried the fixes that other forum members suggested but none solved the problem. That was until Otto42 created his quick fix.

Having problems with the new uploader system? Does it get “stuck” or otherwise not work for you?

I was losing hope when I was nearing the end of his 8-point fix. Thank God that his worst case scenario solution of disabling Flash uploader worked for me.

Anyway, other petty issues I dislike about 2.5 is that posting options seemed to be scattered all around the page which results to a lot of scrolling. You now have to go all the way down just to pick your entry’s category or disabling comments and pings then scroll back up to publish or save it. The link bookmarklet was also missing.

On the other hand, with WordPress 2.5 you can now manage categories, tags, and uploaded media with ease. Also, make sure to check the plugins you were previously using as some of them might no longer work with 2.5.

In addition: Feeds are now delivered full despite placing a “more” tag in the post. Now, do you think that is good or bad?

That’s the major problem after I fixed my visual editor. I downloaded the no-flash plugin and it still doesn’t work.

Nevermind, as long as it works when posting, I am ok with it.

What I don’t like about wordpress really is the upgrading system, HATEEE IT!

    K,
ay oo. it’s good that they are constantly developing the platform pero sana naman hindi yung mga linggo lang ang pagitan ng upgrade. try mo yung fix ni otto sa link. one of them might work for you. ingat ka lang sa pagkalikot.

There’s a fix for that is as simple as inserting a short sliver of code in your .htaccess file.

It’s the WP support forums. :D
