American Idol Season 7’s Top 10 Episode

March 27, 2008 · Filed Under All Entries, Entertainment

If you are reading this post elsewhere other than I Set No Corner, chances are, it is stolen.

I wasn’t able to do an American Idol post for the Top 11 last week since I went semi-offline for the Holy Week. Anyway, I think Amanda Overmyer have shown all that she is capable of doing. I really had enough of her.

For this week, I think Ramielle Malubay made a mistake by choosing a song that Carly had already sang impressively during Hollywood Week. I myself can’t help but compare.

Syesha Mercado was no dark horse for me. When I said that this season’s idol could be a girl, I was thinking that it could be her.

Michael Johns picked a perfect song for him. Not because I think that he will be the champion on this competition but because it matches his vocals perfectly. Johns have finally proven that he deserves the spot on stage.

I have to agree with Paula, David Cook is brilliant. He managed to reconstruct well a Lionel Ritchie and a Michael Jackson song. Though I do have doubts that America will be voting for him all the way to the top. Either way, David will definitely be a star.

Forecast: Chikezie will be the one to go this week.

I think, this season is unpredictable. Ramiele is very likeable, it wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad either, and that’s I guess the interesting part of watching her. However, I like the way she end the song, very risky but she made it beautiful.

David C will def be the winner. I am not familiar of his song but he was amazing!

My bottom three would be Chikezie (I can agree with Simon), Kristy (to me her voice seems nasal) and between Carly (she wants us to prove that she is the strongest singer in the bunch, but not popular tho) or Ramiele (her fans will be voting crazy just like what happened to Jasmine).

    Chikezie is going I believe.

    K,
i just learned that david cook wasn’t the original re-arranger of that billy jean version. it was Chris Cornell as pointed out by ryan seacrest before cook performed. anyway, it was a good performance nonetheless. you should see his “hello” by lionel ritchie during the top 8 boys. :D

Yeah, Chikezie was the one to go nga. And I believe that’s because he can’t offer anything new. I love Brooke White and David Cook.

Brook white is consistently good. I didn’t like her before dahil para syang lukaret pero ayus yung mga performance nya. Especially the last one on piano.

Yung we are the champions ni david cook ang galing din.

si carly parang nawawala sa labanan, pag kumakanta pa naman sya naiimagine ko boses ni celine dion sa mukha ni beth middler, tama ba? yung kumanta ng from a distance.

Johns performance is good too.

    NAC,

bumilib ako kay syesha nung hollywood week. first round nya di sya nakapasok kasi nawala boses nya. buti na lang bumalik in time for her second try and she was able to deliver a powerful performance pa non. i also like david h. then kaso there was something unlikeable sa kanya na di ko ma explain.

i also liked brooke during hollywood week pa lang where she sang “beautiful” on piano. i just love her singing style.

btw, it was michael johns who sang we are the champions. i think it was his best performance to date since the top 24 started. hats off ako kay david cook for the way she sang billy jean. grabe tong mama na to. ahoo! ahoo!

about carly naman, i admired her eversince she sang “alone” on hollywood week. kaso di nya name-maintain yung level of performance nya through out the competition.

i think yung maliit na lalake na sinasabi mo is david archuleta. di ko din sya bet. magaling sya kumanta pero i think he is overrated. nagkakaroon tuloy ako ng growing defiance against him.lolz

disappointed din ako kay ramielle. sa totoo lang okay lang sa akin if she’ll be the next one to go. di sya masyadong malaking kawalan. :(

about the lady cook, dismayado ako sa kanya since hollywood week pa lang. she wasnt able to make it on the 1st round so on the second try, kinanta nya uli yung “amazing grace” which was her audition piece.

I like ramielle and I agree with K that she is very likeable. The only problem with her is her choice of songs. Para kasing sinusunod ni ramielle kung ano gusto nya kanta. pero dapat din nya isipin kung babagay ba angkanta sa kanya o makakdagdag ba ng puntos sa kanya. kasi if she will always stay at her comfort zone, she will never grwo as a singer. Hinahanap ko talaga sa kanya yung fighting spirit nina camille velasco at Jasmine trias noon na kahit mukhang kulelat na sila still they were able to awe the judges.

    BLUE,
parang wala kasi syang pakialam e no? timid yung dating nya tapos boring pa ng choice of song.

im afraid na syesha’s journey is soon to end. sayang naman sya. pero sana mauna si KLC. lolz

I agree about Syesha! I thought she’s a front runner and surprised that she’s actually considered an underdog. She seem not to have the likeability factor though, no wonder she’s often in the bottom 3.

I liked Carly during the auditions, but i’d prefer to see her go home after Chekezie. It would be a surprise if Archuleta wont take it all. My top 3: Archuleta, Malubay, Johns/Cook

    ELY,
i wish syesha can deliver a standout performance. i really thought she was good during hollywood week. sadly, i havent yet seen that same intensity since the top 24 started.

i prefer cook over johns. :D the end is near…
