My Flowerhorn Is Having Swim Bladder Problem
March 6, 2008 · Filed Under All Entries, Diversion, iRonnie
Yesterday, I had a scare when Dad called out to me saying that my pet flowerhorn, Tolits, seem to be dying. Huwaatt?! I just saw it earlier and even fed it and noticed nothing strange. So I went downstairs and saw that it was swimming on its side then turned belly up. It was swimming upside down! After a few moments, it managed to go back to an upright position but it is just staying at the bottom of the tank.
I do not know what was happening and so I searched the net and found out that this is a symptom of a swim bladder problem. The problem is that there were several possible reasons causing it. So I rushed to BioResearch and to Cartimar to find a treatment.
Right now, water level was reduced, treatment is administered, and the wastes he excretes are pumped out of the tank regularly. I hope he can recover from this.

Hi! You’ve mentined that you rushed to bio research and cartimar for possible treatment of the swim bladder disease. Just would like to know what sort of treatment you administered when Tolits had Swim Bladder Disease.
Thanks in advance! My FH seems to have the same problem.

Hi,
Please tell me the dosage of metronidazole and mebendazole you use with Tolits. My FH named Lucky is also suffering from swim bladder disease for more than 3 weeks. He is 3 years and 4 months old now. I’m very lonely because of his condition.
Thanks

Hi Joy,
I administered a dissolved 500mg of Mebendazole and Metronidazole for every 10 gallons of water in the tank and did 25% water change everyday for two weeks.
i hope Lucky recovers.

That really scare if you got a news that your flowerhorn is dying. But If you can make some move to revive your fish do it so that it will stay long in you.
Good Luck!
