Jars of Clay is a popular Christian alternative pop group. Their sound has varied over the years as the band has flirted with folk, rock, trip-hop, gospel, and hymn song.

Their self-titled album, which featured layered acoustic guitars over programmed trip-hop beats, is widely considered one of the greatest Christian rock albums. This is a bit of a misnomer, possibly caused by the use of drums on “Flood”, the band’s biggest hit, (it hit #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hitting #12 on the Modern Rock charts).
