Weight Concerns Men As Well

November 20, 2007

A few years back, you only hear women complaining on how heavy they’ve become. Now, the same concern is being echoed by men as well. Imagine me and a guy friend trying to lose weight in time for our friend’s wedding this coming December. Haha!

Society has conditioned our minds to envy those who are slim. Images of buff and sexy models high on a billboard pedestal populate the main avenue of the metro. This thinking made its way to common people who felt that their regular built and ordinary bodies are somehow below the standard of beauty.

With this, those who can afford the cost of liposuction chose the easier path while those who do not have money to spare or simply prefers to take the natural way ends up inside the gyms.

As for me, I promised myself a week ago that I’ll start doing brisk walking every other morning but the cool weather always pins me down to my bed. Tomorrow will be another day to try. :D

Termites: A Home Wrecker

November 19, 2007

Contrary to fire that could wipe things in minutes, termites slowly reduces your house to nothing if left unchecked.

The house we are currently living probably dates back to more than thirty years. Half made with concrete and half with wood, we could now see things falling apart quite literally. A quick inspection of the house will reveal how much damage the infestation has done. They even managed to create a wood tunnel inside my very own cabinet. Surprisingly, they even infest cracks in our concrete walls.

I guess we can salvage very little with our house. Hopefully, God permits; we can finance constructing a new house at most two years from now. This time we’ll make sure to treat the soil against these creatures and to regularly conduct termite inspections.

Letting Go Of Excess Baggages

November 19, 2007

Kuya Rino asked me to follow in his footstep:

I will list three things that I would like to let go in life. It would be like an unburdening, letting go of excess baggage, emotional or whatever. I have held on to certain things in my life for so long that instead of being uplifted, I am weighed down by them.

Here is my list of things to let go:

[1] I want to let go of fear and passivity that have crippled me from standing up to what is right.

[2] I want to let go of complacency that robs me from growing up more to what I am today.

[3] I want to let go of grumbling. So that I may see that things are not as bad as I see them to be.

Easily said but not easy to do. May God grant me the will power to take action. I’m tagging Ambo, Gbert, and Rose for this one.

A Hiking Gift

November 19, 2007

I developed my interest in photography after seeing the photos of a mountaineering blogger. Seeing the beauty of nature on top of a mountain sure pays off all the hardships of hiking.

I have always wanted to try this recreational sport but I am worried that my feet might not bear the long trail. Also, I have no hiking boots or the essential gears that goes with this activity.

There is an online store that not only offers hiking but Hunting Boots as well. Their products can be a great gift for people who are in to recreational sports similar to that of hiking. They even offer gift certificates and free shipping within the US for orders over $100.

I am still looking forward for my first trail. What better way to exercise than walking to enjoy the natural beauty that life has to offer.

Naruto Manga 378: The Hermit Fights Using Genjutsu

November 19, 2007

Even when Jiraiya is at Hermit Mode, his most powerful form, he cannot help but get frustrated for his failed attacks. Not knowing what else to do, the male toad suggested a retreat.

Escaping through the pipes, Jiraiya and the toad couple, discussed their observations about the Rikudou boys in order to come up with a plan. It seems that each have one unique technique and that one technique is all they can use. Since Taijutsu will not work against their enemies who will resort to combination attacks with them sharing each others vantage points, and with Ninjutsu being absorbed by the fat guy, Jiraiya was left with no choice but to use Genjutsu.

When Love Is Real

November 18, 2007

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
Romans 12:15 NASB

The summer before my eighth-grade year I made friends with a guy named Larry. He was new to town, so I encouraged him to go out for our school football team…

The result was a good news-bad news scenario. The good news? He made the cut. The bad news? He won my position. I tried to be happy for him, but it was tough.

A few weeks into the season Larry fell off a motorcycle and broke a finger. I remember the day he stood at my front door holding up his bandaged hand. “Looks like you’re going to have to play.”

I tried to fell sorry for him, but it was hard. The passage was a lot easier for Paul to write than it was for me to practice. “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”

You want to plumb the depths of your love for someone? How do you feel when that person succeeds?

Tahiti 80 – Heartbeat

November 16, 2007

Let’s turn left in our cruise trip to French pop boy band road. With the song’s catchy beat, synth-like style, and hard to understand pronunciation of the lyrics, it was love at first hearing for me. Give the guys a chance. Enjoy!

Tahiti 80 is an English-language French pop group formed in 1993 in Rouen, France.

The group’s name originates from a slogan on a t-shirt. Their music resembles pop with soul tendencies. They have encountered a fair amount of success in Japan, notably.

Composed of four members (three of whom sing), the group makes use of guitar, percussion/drums, bass guitar, programming and keyboards.

In Need Of Cash

November 16, 2007

I have always believed that spending only what you have at hand and not resorting to loans is always a good practice. However, unexpected circumstances are inevitable and knowing where to go for cheap loans will sure come handy.

The first time I applied for a loan was when I decided to leave my regular job. I knew that despite the good sum I will be receiving upon separation, a personal loan will add an extra mile in my journey.

Now that I am venturing in to contracting, I realized that it’s hard to manage finances especially when you are lacking in capital as payables and receivables almost do not meet. As much as I want to apply for a secured loan, our little company have not yet acquired any valuable asset to commit.
