Why Did He Do It?

“He gave up his place with God and made himself nothing.”
Philippians 2:7

Holiday travel. It isn’t easy. Then why do we do it? Why cram the trunks and endure the airports? You know the answer. We love to be with the ones we love.

The four-year-old running up the sidewalk into the arms of Grandpa.

The cup of coffee with Mom before the rest of the house awakes.

That moment when, for a moment, everyone is quiet as we hold hands around the table and thank God for family and friends and pumpkin pie.

We love to be with the ones we love.

May I remind you? So does God. He loves to be with the ones he loves. How else do you explain what he did? Between him and us there was a distance—a great span. And he couldn’t bear it. He couldn’t stand it. So he did something about it.

“He gave up his place with God and made himself nothing.”

Sometimes, I can’t understand God. What does He sees in us that He was willing to go trough all the trouble? Looking in, I don’t even think that I can give up my complete comfort for the sake of those I love. People can sacrifice much for their loved ones, but I don’t think they can sacrifice their all. The strings will eventually break.

It’s hard to imagine that power and humility can exist in the same person. But I am thankful that it exists in a loving Heavenly Father.

ako din, I don’t know how much I can give up for the sake of someone I love. May pagdadamot ako minsan eh…

but God? sobrang there’s no greater love than HIS love…I don’t have to understand it to know that it exists. Feel na feel ko eh.

    God bless Ron. :)

    CHUVANESS,

tama. mabubuwang lang tayo kapag pinilit nating intindihin. let’s all just be thankful for it and try to return that love in the best way we can.

Logic and reason in this mortal world is folly compared to the knowledge and mysterious ways of the Father. You’re right, all we can do is be thankful and learn to return his love to the full extent :)
