Managing to level the field, Jiraiya successfully casted Kaneshibari, a genjutsu that paralyzes both the nerves and mind. With the three Rikudou boys unable to move, Jiraiya made his choice to end the lives of his former student. Assured of Pain’s death, Jiraiya walks away from the battle scene only to be surprised by an attack from behind which cost him his left arm. The sannin looks back only to be shocked to see that the three opponents he just killed is now standing with three other characters. All six of them possessing the Rinnegan.

Now this is a real Pain (pun intended) in the arse! This actually makes sense since Rikudou is after all, the sage of SIX paths. In reference to the Buddhist teaching, I say that the fat Rikudou represents the Hungry Ghost Realm, the pony tailed represents the Animal Realm, and Nagato could be the one for the Human realm. With Jiraiya now facing the representation of the Deva (gods) and Asura (demigod) realm at the end of Naruto Manga 379: Jiraiya’s Choice!, the next manga chapter might actually leave no option for the old sannin.
Base on Jiraiya’s ending reaction, I can say that my wild theory might actually be not that far off.
