Filthy Reach

Philippine politics is generally filthy. The level of its filth is directly proportional to the level of its reach.
My dad was a barangay captain for more or less, 10 years. He first came in to office by succession after our barangay captain ran for city councilor and won. He then ran on the following election and earned his seat by the people’s mandate. On the recently concluded election last Monday, on his supposedly second term, he sought to be re-elected against two other opponents. Sadly, he lost.
One thing I do not like about my father is the way he value his constituents more than his family. There are people that he treated like his own children and I know that he receives more consolation from them compared to us. But at the end of the day, they are still not family. “Ibang tao pa rin sila.” And you cannot expect other people to be always there for you.
One of his so called children (his chief tanod ((barangay security force))) ran as councilor for opponent B’s ticket. The other (his first kagawad and member of his ticket last election) is now opponent A.
I am not saying that dad is the one deserving of the office, but he surely does not deserve the black propagandas and betrayals from those people he treated like his family… like his sons. We acknowledge their right to seek office and to support their family members, but that can be done without instigating rifts. My dad is a classic example of a person bitten by his own dogs.
Anyway, election is over and only time could tell the character of those people now in office. As I have always believed, “Insincerity, no matter how you hide it, gives off a foul smell.” If there is one thing we should be thankful for because of this incident, it is knowing who are those who genuinely supports us and we can truly consider as friends.

How true! Some trusted people can really really bite your behind when the door is wide open. Some of them can also be ruthless.
O sya, yayain mo na si papa mo for some male bonding
I am so sorry to hear about what your dad went through. And also you (family) went through. But really, we all learn from our experiences and this was your dad’s. gets na nya ngayon yan
sadly but true, ganyan naman talaga, balimbingan.. hayy
? ahihi..
hi! i so feel for you. you’re right about politics, power and all the dirt that comes with it. well, your dad probably learned something: that he has people who truly care about him for who he really is, a family.
sabi naman kasi sayo, kaw na tumakbong kapitan de barangay… political dynasty ang dating deba?
THESS,
dad was saying na okay naman sya at tanggap nya ang lahat. pero i know nasaktan din syempre sya not because he lost but because he was betrayed by people he trusted. anyway, panahon na para sya mag retire. 10 years is enough lalo nan gayong di na sya in perfect shape.
ROSE,
yup yup! ako po yun! sali ka uli meron tayong bago.
ACEY,
i just hope he did. i hope he now realizes that at the end of the day, it is his family that will stick with him.
thanks for dropping by acey. long time no see ha. ^_- have a fun-filled halloween but don’t forget to remember our loved ones who have passed away.

Politics = Dirty
Nakarelate ako ng konti. Yaan mo na yung mga balimbing na yun. What goes around, comes around. I hope all is well with you and your family.
CHUVANESS,
okay naman ang lahat. it only hurts sa simula pero we are enjoying dad being a “free” man.
nakapamasyal na nga kami e.
ganyan talaga politics. Minsan kahit magkakamag-anak nagkakaroon alitan dahil dyan. I had the same experience when my brother in law ran for a position last May. He lost, which left us mourning for days…
ELY,
korek bro! i say philippine politics is the devil’s brilliant work.
