Naruto Manga 375: Necessity Over Form, Jiraiya Goes Hermit Mode!

Knowing the seriousness of the battle before him, Jiraiya wasted no time and decided to immediately launch a full force attack against Pain by going in to Hermit Mode. This is done by adding some more face marks in his face. Ironically, this technique which Jiraiya only uses for desperate times is taking a whole lot of time before it can be completed. Pain have already summoned three more monsters before Jiraiya attained complete transformation.Jiraiya finds Pain’s attack style a bit strange. Why would a person who have managed to master the use of ALL six chakra nature manipulation all by himself, and possessed the ability to use ANY type of ninjutsu he desires at the age of 10, is passively fighting by only using summoning technique? Is this Pain’s way of saying that he doesn’t see the need to fight directly against his former sensei?
Realizing something, Jiraiya decided to dismissed Gamaken-san and handle things by himself. As the buffalo like monster summoned by Pain charges towards Jiraiya, the latter have attained complete Hermit Mode. Manga 375: Ni Dai Sennin ends leaving us wondering on what power will this form bestow upon Jiraiya.

If you recall the previous chapters, Pain had a different appearance. Before he went after Jiraiya, he went into this secret chamber where seemingly all the other members of Akatsuki, including their mastermind (the one suspected to be either Obito or Uchiha Madara) were lying in some capsules or pods.
He then said that, “I had to take this body out” or something to that effect which means, the person fighting Jiraiya could just be another form of Pain.

possible. i am really amazed with what is going on in the mind of the creator of this manga. i am wondering why Paim changed in appearance after going in that capsule. hmm…

i’m guessing the hermit mode is actually jiraiya with 2 small frogs on his shoulders (opinion based on the last frame of chapter 375). also his face would resemble a toad-like appearance. much like orochimaru and his fascination with snakes. haha. just a guess.

same guess here. the last frame in silhouette gave a lot of clue as per appearance is concerned but i wonder what power does the hermit mode brings to jiraiya. 3 days from now and we’ll soon find out.
