Filthy Reach
October 31, 2007
Philippine politics is generally filthy. The level of its filth is directly proportional to the level of its reach.
My dad was a barangay captain for more or less, 10 years. He first came in to office by succession after our barangay captain ran for city councilor and won. He then ran on the following election and earned his seat by the people’s mandate. On the recently concluded election last Monday, on his supposedly second term, he sought to be re-elected against two other opponents. Sadly, he lost.
One thing I do not like about my father is the way he value his constituents more than his family. There are people that he treated like his own children and I know that he receives more consolation from them compared to us. But at the end of the day, they are still not family. “Ibang tao pa rin sila.” And you cannot expect other people to be always there for you.
Words of Hope

“Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that…we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 NIV
Encourage those who are struggling. Don’t know what to say? Then open your Bible…
To the grief stricken: “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’” (Heb. 13:5 NIV). To the guilt ridden: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1 NIV). To the jobless: “In all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Rom. 8:28 NIV). To those who feel beyond God’s grace: “Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).
Your Bible is a basket of blessings. Won’t you share one?

October 27, 2007
In Naruto Manga 376: The Destined Child, Jiraiya takes us to the time when The Great Toad Sage reveals a vision for him back when he was still a young ninja. The prediction goes like…
“I see you becoming both a pervert without equal and a shinobi of incredible talent. And someday, you will take on a pupil. This pupil [ed. the destined child] will become the harbinger of a great revolution in the world of ninja. I have seen as much in my dreams. They will finally bring peace to the world … or utterly destroy it. The result of their revolution will be one or the other. You will be their master. Their teacher. And eventually, you will be forced to make a difficult choice. The path you take, will determine the fate of the world.”

I am not promoting adultery here but I have to admit, it is hard to put a good song down. I love everything about this song except for the message. Parental Guidance is advised. ^_-

An Anonymous Seven For My 300th
October 23, 2007
Jon of Chimeric Day Dream tagged me last week to write a few sentences about seven bloggers, maintaining their anonymity, who have managed to inspire me. It is a timely thing to do since I feel that the past few days was draining the life out of me. Got to remember some happy thoughts.
1. I am now a blogger because of you. It didn’t came easy but thanks to your guidance and encouragements, I am now writing my 300th blog post. I’m looking forward to venturing more blogging possibilities with you.
2. Your photos inspired me to make photography as a hobby and to start my own photoblog. Too bad that you went in to such long hiatus but I’ll be looking forward for your return.
3. Your being fun loving and adventurous spirit despite your seemingly serious vocation made me loosened myself a little bit. You reminded me that life can be a joy despite all of its unpleasantness.
EDSA Garden House – An Herb Land In Quezon City
October 22, 2007
![]()
Last October 19, EDSA Garden House opened its doors to the public especially to herb lovers. Too bad we didn’t made it on the first day where plants, regularly priced at 3 for 100 or PhP50 each, were sold for only PhP25. I would have acquired 16 plants. Too bad…
Anyway, I was really not planning of setting up an herb garden. I was just suppose to accompany Jeprocks who plans of giving one as a house warming gift for his client/friend. Thanks to the store’s effective way of informing people on the uses of those plants and after enjoying the smell of the varied mints available, I had a change of mind.
Fretting is Futile

“You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it.”
Matthew 6:27
No one has to remind you of the high cost of anxiety. (But I will anyway.) Worry divides the mind. The biblical word for worry (merimnao) is a compound of two Greek words, merizo (“to divide”) and nous (“the mind”). Anxiety splits our energy between today’s priorities and tomorrow’s problems. Part of our mind is on the now; the rest is on the not yet. The result is half-minded living.
That’s not the only result. Worrying is not a disease, but it causes diseases. It has been connected to high blood pressure, heart trouble, blindness, migraine headaches, thyroid malfunctions, and a host of stomach disorders.
Anxiety is an expensive habit. Of course, it might be worth the cost if it worked. But it doesn’t. Our frets are futile. Worry has never brightened a day, solved a problem, or cured a disease.
