Six Hours One Friday

September 30, 2007

“He really was the Son of God!”
Matthew 27:54

To the casual observer the six hours are mundane…

God is on a cross. The creator of the universe is being executed.

Spit and blood are caked on his cheeks, and his lips are cracked and swollen. Thorns rip his scalp. His lungs scream with pain. His legs knot with cramps. Taut nerves threaten to snap as pain twangs her morbid melody. Yet, death is not ready. And there is no one to save him, for he is sacrificing himself.

It is no normal six hours…it is no normal Friday.

Let me ask you a question: What do you do with this day in history? What do you do with its claims?

If it really happened…if God did commandeer his own crucifixion…if he did turn his back on his own son…those six hours were no normal six hours. They were the most critical hours is history.

Naruto Manga 372: Two Students Became One Fearsome Enemy?

September 29, 2007

Naruto Manga 372: A Country of Tears started with a battle between Jiraiya and Konan. It was a brief one (probably more on next chapter) as Jiraiya fired oil on Konan to prevent her from using her jutsu. We then learned from their little chit chat that Jiraiya thought that Konan were already dead.

Seeing that she is well, Jiraiya assumed that the other two students are alive and are also serving under Pain.

Things I Learned From The Senate

September 27, 2007

Yesterday, the Senate had a whooping 12-hour-long investigation on the controversial NBN project as former NEDA Chief Romulo Neri attended the session to testify. Here are some of the things I realized as I watch the proceedings from time to time:

1. Neri, taking that the “200″ bribe actually means 200 million, is simply saying that the average kickbacks per government project is not just by the hundreds nor by the thousands.

A Year of New Learnings

September 26, 2007

Life is not all sunshine, but it doesn’t mean that we cannot enjoy the rain. Circumstances are not as worst as they appear to be. We just have to choose to see the good of things.

I may have not told you yet, but I admire your courage. Honestly, I envy it. This chance was given to you because among the two of us, you’re the one who could make the most from it.

We are saddened by the miles that came between us but for the meantime, take advantage of the situation. There are valuable lessons that we can learn outside of our comfort zones.

On this day, know that we miss you so much. Happy birthday.

Manga 371: A Reunion Of Old Comrades?

September 24, 2007

Manga Chapter 371 appears to be a reunion of old and former comrades. You’ll be surprised to learn how the lives of these people have intertwined.

One of Naruto’s shadow clones encountered Sasuke and his team. It was a very short meeting as the kage bunshin bump and went “poof” at the hands of Sasuke. With this, the Leaf’s ninjas rushed and followed Naruto to the site.

God Is For Me

September 23, 2007

“You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle.”
Psalm 56:8 NKJV

God knows you. He engraved your name on his hands and keeps your tears in a bottle (Isa. 49:16; Ps. 56:8)…

God knows you. And he is near you! How far is the shepherd from the sheep (John 10:14)? The branch from the vine (John 15:5)? That’s how far God is from you. He is near. See how these four words look taped to your bathroom mirror: “God is for me” (Ps. 56:9 NKJV).

And his kingdom needs you. The poor need you; the lonely need you; the church needs you…the cause of God needs you. You are part of “the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone” (Eph. 1:11 MSG). The kingdom needs you to discover and deploy your unique skill. Use it to make much out of God. Get the word out. God is with us; we are not alone.

My Blood Boils Everytime I Hear The ZTE Deal

September 22, 2007

Joey de Venecia claims that the National Broadband deal of the government with ZTE is overpriced by $200M. This excess is said to go to the pockets of some of our honorable public servants. Funding for the said project will be loaned by the Chinese government which bottom line, will be paid by the already burdened Filipino tax payers. The nerve of them!

while some official gets $200M richer,
a lot of kids spend their lives on the streets

photo used with Sidney Snoeck’s permission of My Sari-Sari Store

They [allies of the administration] are throwing everything they can at Jose “Joey” de Venecia III, casting him in the role of drug abuser, business adventurer cum scam artist, name-dropping son using his father’s position, not to mention liar. ((Ring of Truth by Solita Collas-Monsod, Inquirer.Net))

Joey not being “holy” and “perfect” doesn’t mean that he is not telling the truth. In fact, I do not care less about his reputation. His accusation merits probing regardless of his reputation.

Blink 182 - I Miss You

September 21, 2007

Blink-182 was a United States rock trio who played pop punk and punk rock music. The band was originally formed in 1992 by Tom DeLonge (vocals and guitar) who quickly recruited Mark Hoppus (vocals and bass) and Scott Raynor (drums) in Poway, California, a northern suburb of San Diego. Originally, the band’s official name was “Blink”, however, the numerical three digit suffix was appended early in their career following an objection from an Irish band with the same name. Travis Barker replaced Raynor on drums in 1998, midway through a U.S. tour. The group effectively broke up in early 2005, portraying it as an “indefinite hiatus”. DeLonge went on to play a different style of music in a band called Angels and Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued in a similar genre with their band +44.

We’ll Get By, With A Smile

September 20, 2007

Thank you to Rebecca and Dom Lawrence for awarding me this “You Make Me Smile Award”. Though I think that I am not obliged to pass it forward, I decided to do it just the same.

Here are some of the blogs I frequently visit simply that never fails to make me smile:
