“P” Not Just Stands For Parking

Another weekend had past. I hope you were able to spend this long one with your family and loved ones. Some of you have probably went out malling or to dine in a good restaurant. Though, there are probably some who went out shopping or just buy stuffs to fill the refrigerator with. However you spent your weekend, if you went out with your car, the odds are high that you paid to park. Because here in the Philippines, the P sign is almost synonymous to PESOSESOSES!
Imagine dropping by to the mall to buy a single item you need, then leaving in less than 30 minutes paying for a 40-peso parking fee. Worst case is if the item you needed is not available in their store and the importance of buying it is so bad that you have to check it elsewhere. Which might mean another parking fee. In cases like this, I suggest that one just commutes.
For me, parking areas should be a value add freely offered by establishments for their customers. Otherwise, they should just put a sign on their door saying, “we only do business with pedestrians“, which is logically bad for business.
Anyway, I am not totally against pay parking in malls because you have to admit, some people just let time wastes away without buying anything. I just hope that the mall administrators will find it in their hearts to waive the parking fee for those who will be able to present a validated receipt since they already earned from the motorist. Something that the Bluewave administration in Macapagal avenue have long been practicing.
Just curious, how much did you spent in parking for the recent long weekend?

sinabi mo, kaya ayaw ko na siguro nag car kung dito lang sa pinas, bike kaya, may parking fee din?
I wish I had done something, but the weather kept me at home
I totally agree with the receipt oriented parking system. But having a parking space is good business nowadays so I don’t see it happening on a major scale.
Also I just recently found out from a friend that owning a condo doesn’t reserve you a parking space in the building. Wtf? right? you have to buy your parking space separately! Wow … some people really are getting “rich”-er over this kind of business.
im just not sure with the bike. hehe. one time may nakita ako sa parking lot ng mall na motorbike parked in a car slot. kakatawa. pero i assume may bayad din yun.
i guess you’re right. why would anyone who can get away with it charge something for free? stupid move isn’t it? i just dont know if those parking ticket are also getting taxed. i can’t seem to remember getting any parking receipt from it.
you’re also right about the condo. they are charging for it PER SLOT. it doesn’t come with the facilities. come to think of it, nothing in a condo unit comes free. i also learned that residents shares even for the lobby since this area is considered communal.
I’ve been to different malls in Massachusetts so far yung napupuntahan ko free parking. In Downtown Boston, puno lagi ang parking ng mall at free parking iyon. I usually use the train kapag pupunta dun kasi super mahal ng ibang parking. You’re lucky kapag makahanap ka ng free off street parking. Although, mura lang ang on street parking…usually, few quarters (25 cents) lang ang bayad. Valet Parking fee in NYC is crazy! Who will pay 10 bucks per hour or more than 80 dollars a day!!!My husband and I went to Connecticut last Aug. 2nd, we paid $16 for parking overnight. The hotel charged us fee for parking.
its a good thing that my family in Pinas go shopping in SM Fairview or in Robinson’s just opposite of it… parking there is still for free… hopefully for always..??
malls in the US are considerate enough. well, im not against pay parking. i am just seeking for some reason in paying it. if i will be buying a lot from your store, i’ll be delighted if i’ll be exempt. otherwise, i dont mind paying for it.
wow that’s something i do not know. i thought those malls always after the money. anyway, i hope it will be for always so your family wont be burdened by those fees.
Php25 flat rate sa Bonifacio High Street, Global City….not bad, i guess. We were there late morning till late afternoon.
I don’t have a car, pero some of my friends who has one share the same sentiments.
I didn’t spend anything this weekend on parking fees but on some days when I go to Makati I can easily spend 120 pesos on parking fees. Which is more than a meal in Jollibee.
parking fees are really a source of good income for them. too bad for us.
have a good day sidney!
