Merging Point

July 12, 2007

MR. LINDERMAN: You see, I think there comes a time when a man has to ask himself whether he wants a life of happiness or a life of meaning.

NATHAN: I’d like to have both.

MR. LINDERMAN: It can’t be done. Two very different paths. I mean, to be truly happy a man must live absolutely in the present, and with no thought of what’s gone before, and no thought of what lies ahead. But a life of meaning, a man is condemned to wallow in the past, and obsess about the future.

Three By Three

July 9, 2007

I already did this meme a few years back but since Bluepanjeet is a good blog friend of mine and things change over time, I decided to do this once again.

Three Things That Scares Me

  1. to wake up one day and realize that I have wasted most part of my life;
  2. unrealization of my dream for my parents; and
  3. to live life as a miser.

Know Your Part

July 8, 2007

“Consider others better than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3 NIV

True humility is not thinking lowly of yourself but thinking accurately of yourself. The humble heart, “I can’t do anything.” But rather, “I can’t do everything. I know my part and am happy to do it.”

When Paul writes “consider others better than yourselves” (Phil. 2:3 NIV, emphasis mine), he uses a verb that means “to calculate,” “to reckon.” The word implies a conscious judgment resting on carefully weighed facts. To consider others better than yourself, then, is not to say you have no place; it is to say that you know your place. “Don’t cherish exaggerated ideas of yourself or your importance, but try to have a sane estimate of your capabilities by the light of the faith that God has given to you” (Rom. 12:3 Phillips).

Julianne – Tulak ng Bibig

July 6, 2007

Thank God she’s not another hyped-up “bossa-nova,” “acoustic” or “soul” diva. Major record label producers have been cynically force-feeding the music market with performers specifically packaged to satisfy the demand in certain musical trends. Most don’t write their songs and simply cover foreign hits. Self-proclaimed “bossa-nova,” “acoustic” or “soul” divas often don’t possess a deep understanding of their supposed genre.

So now we’ve got Julianne, a singer-songwriter from out of the blue, breaking ground with her debut album Grateful and its carrier single with music video titled “Tulak ng Bibig.”

Rewind Needed

July 5, 2007

I made a shameful mistake last Monday in a corporate examination.

It involved finding the values of current, voltage, and power rating of two very simple electrical circuit. I got the principles all mixed up! In the real setting it would have meant KABOOM! Okay I’m exaggerating. But it was indeed a big kaboom for me considering that I am an Electronics and Communications Engineer. Well, I never really liked circuits anyway.

Transformers, The Live Movie

July 2, 2007

I went to see the movie last Saturday just to kill time and I was expecting to leave the cinema disappointed with the film. You see, based on the trailer, I concluded that the story will focus more on the human characters and that the Transformers will just be like an icing on a cake. But boy was I proven wrong!

The Story
Though some may complain that there were few Transformers in the movie compared to the number of human actors, I can say that their number were enough to keep the action going. The action and suspense build up was great and there were no dragging moments, or non that I remember. They also did a fine job of injecting some funny moments for the Autobots and Sam. Though this is the first of a series, the story ending will not leave you hanging. It had a good closure. I felt satisfied when the ending credits rolled up.

Abounding Grace

July 1, 2007

“The more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God’s abounding grace.”
Romans 5:20 TLB

To abound is to have a surplus, an abundance, and extravagant portion. Should the fish in the Pacific worry that it will run out ocean? No. Why? Because the ocean abounds with water. Need the lark to be anxious about finding room in the sky to fly? No. The sky abounds with space.

Should the Christian worry that the cup of mercy will run empty? He may. For he may not be aware of God’s abounding grace. Are you? Are you aware that the cup God gives you overflows with mercy? Or are you afraid your cup will run dry? Your warranty will expire? Are you afraid your mistakes are too great for God’s grace?…

God is not a miser with his grace. Your cup may be low on cash or clout, but it is overflowing with mercy.
