Joshua Radin - Girlfriend In A Coma
June 29, 2007
![]()
“Girlfriend in a Coma” was originally sung by The Smiths. It was released as a single in August 1987, reaching #13 in the UK Singles Chart. The single itself is a tongue-in-cheek, music hall inflected song that clocks in at a mere two minutes and two seconds. Though seemingly “lightweight” and catchy, the song features acidic, ambiguous lyrics. (Source: Wikipedia)
“First Between 3rd & 4th” is a glimpse of what is to come from Joshua Radin. A singer/songwriter whose writing is both musically and lyricly personal and engaging — his album is a captivating mix of alternative rock and folk.

Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal
June 26, 2007
Tapos.
~ Ada, Carlo Vergara’s Zsazsa Zaturnnah ~
Last June 24 my friends and I watched the 8pm show of the 5th and, allegedly, last run of Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at the RCBC Plaza in Makati.
Here are some of my thoughts with that experience:
What Love Does

“I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear.”
Matthew 25:36
What if you were given the privilege of Mary? What if God himself were placed in your arms as a naked baby? Would you not do what she did? “She wrapped the baby with pieces of cloth” (Luke 2:7).
The baby Jesus, still wet from the womb, was cold and chilled. So this mother did what any mother would do; she did what love does: She covered him.
Wouldn’t you cherish an opportunity to do the same? You have one. Such opportunities come your way every day. Jesus said, “I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear…I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for me” (Matt. 25: 36, 40).

Everything In Between is full of vivid snapshots from every landmark along his two-year journey through love, questions, pain, and healing. “This record stems from relationships and heartbreak, but ultimately I’m grateful for everything that happened, because I learned who I am through the process of making this record,” Wertz says. And while the process was born out of a difficult journey, the result is an eclectic and energetic album, delivered smoothly and with confidence. As a whole, Everything is seamless and cohesive, but each song varies in color enough to make it unique from the others, beautiful in its own way.

Bob Ong’s Mac Arthur
June 19, 2007
“Mga bata pa kayo. Pag pinaniwalaan namin kayong hindi kayo naglaro ng tubig kahit na basang-basa ang mga damit ninyo, kayo ang niloloko namin. Hindi kayo ang nakapanloloko.”
By Mang Justo to Noel
in Bob Ong’s Mac Arthur
No two Bob Ong books are the same. Each one tackles a different theme and is written uniquely from each other. In this book, we see no Bob telling stories about himself. It is purely fictional inserted with a few mature humor.
Mac Arthur is a short story about four young friends whose lives are far from every parent’s aspiration for their children. Each one of them have their own story to tell over a friendly session of methamphetamine.
With their “wasted” lives and family problems, Bob Ong guides us to see where their individual paths will lead them as they struggle through life for their survival. ((text by iRonnie))

The Angels Offer Worship

“ “All the angels stood around the throne…saying: ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom…be to our God forever and ever.’”
Revelation 7:11-12 NKJV
Only one sight enthralls angels—God’s face. They know that he is Lord of all. And, as a result, they worship him. Whether in the temple with Isaiah or the pasture with the Bethlehem shepherds, angels worship…
“All the angels stood around the throne…saying: ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.’”
Doesn’t their worship proclaim volumes about God’s beauty? Angels could gaze at the Grand Tetons and Grand Canyon, Picasso paintings and the Sistine Chapel, but they choose, instead, to fix their eyes on the glory of God. They can’t see enough of him, and they can’t be silent about what they see.

Relient K - Be My Escape

The name Relient K has always been synonymous with some of the most contagious power pop/punk rock, tongue in cheek songwriting and feel good fun anyone could ever ask for. But since the band’s infancy, there has also been an upward evolution that includes tighter musicianship, increased songwriting smarts and a high-octane stage show regarded by fans at sold out shows from coast to coast.
“We’re not trying to hide anything with the songs on this record, just to get what we feel out there,” Thiessen (vocalist) summarizes. “We’ve also found it to be the hardest thing in the world to say ‘Jesus’ in a song and not be cheesy, so we definitely have our own way of singing about spirituality. But in the end that’s who we are and what we believe in. We hope between that and the music, it connects with someone out there.”
