The Complications of Politics
February 28, 2007
They say that if you don’t want any arguments arising in a conversation, do not talk about religion and politics. I agree. However, the price you have to pay for being uninformed from these topics are far more severe compared to an argument that may arise.
I am no fan of politics and thus, I am not abreast with it. However, come May of this year, I will have to go to the polls and cast my lot on people who will shape the future of our country. Sadly, there is no perfect candidate.
The last ten years have changed the qualifications in selecting a candidate. From thinking who is the best, we are now posed with the question of who is the less evil. I have not yet decided on who are the 12 less-evil persons are but I am hopeful to complete it before May. Candidates that may strike me as exemplary will earn a spot here in my blog. When that time comes, anyone is welcome to disagree but please do it in a civil manner.
From here on, it’s getting-to-know-your-candidate time for me.
Life Path Number 6
February 26, 2007
The human personality is full of complexities. Too complex that there are times that you cannot understand even your very self. That makes personality reading a lot of fun.
I am not saying that I blindly believe in such things, it is just that I find myself nodding in agreement to some of its declaration.
I learned of this website from a co-blogger wherein you just need to enter your birth date and a lot of information will already be available. I specifically became interested with what it says about my life path number.
The Life Path 6 suggests that you entered this plane with tools to become the ultimate nurturer, and a beacon for truth, justice, righteousness, and domesticity. Your paternal, or maternal, as the case may be, instincts with a 6 Life Path exceed all others by a considerable margin. Whether in the home or in the work place, you are the predominant caretaker and family head. While the 6 may assume significant responsibilities in the community, the life revolves around the immediate home and family, for this is the most domestic of numbers. Conservative principles and convictions are deeply ingrained and define your character.
You are idealistic and must feel useful to be happy. The main contribution you make is that of advice, service, and ever present support. You are a humanitarian of the first order. It is your role to serve others, and you start in the home environment. You are very human and realistic about life, and you feel that the most important thing in your life is the home, the family and the friends.
This is the Life Path related to leadership by example and assumption of responsibility, thus, it is your obligation to pick up the burden and always be ready to help. If you are like the majority with Life Path 6, you are one who will willingly carry far more than your fair share of any load, and you are always there when needed. In doing so, you take ownership and often become an authority over the situation.
In romance, the 6 is loyal and devoted. As a caretaker type, you are apt to attract partners who are somewhat weaker and more needy than yourself; someone you can care for and protect. The main ingredient that must prevail in the relationship is complete harmony. You don’t function well in stressful relationships that become challenges for you to control. It is the same with friends, you are loyal and trustworthy. But there is a tendency for you to become dominating and controlling.
It’s likely you feel compelled to function with strength and compassion. You are a sympathetic and kind person, generous with personal and material resources. Wisdom, balance, and understanding are the cornerstones of your life, and these define your approach to life in general. Your extraordinary wisdom and the ability to understand the problems of others is apt to commence from an early age. This allows you to easily span the generation gap and assume an important role in life early on.
The number 6 Life Path actually produces few negative examples, but there are some pitfalls peculiar to the path. You may have a tendency to become overwhelmed by responsibilities and a slave to others, especially members of you own family or close friends. It’s easy for you to fall into a pattern of being too critical of others; you also have a tendency to become to hard on yourself. The misuse of this Life Path produce tendencies for you to engage in exaggeration, over-expansiveness, and self-righteousness. Modesty and humility may not flow easily. Imposing one’s views in an interfering or meddling way must be an issue of concern.
The natural burdens of this number are heavy, and on rare occasions, responsibility is abdicated by persons with this Life Path 6. This rejection of responsibility will make you feel very guilty and uneasy, and it will have very damaging effects upon your relationships with others.
Sentences in italics means that I personally concur. If you think you know me well and saw that there are things which is true for me and yet are not in italics, please leave a comment.
I’ll gladly appreciate your view.
Oh and by the way, in reading such things, be careful that it does not dictate what you think about yourself or what your life should be. As I said earlier, it is a good source of FUN.
Assurance of Victory
February 25, 2007

“This is the victory that conquers the world—our faith.”
I John 5:4What is unique about the kingdom of God is that you are assured of victory. You have won! You are assured that you will someday stand before the face of God and see the King of kings. You are assured that someday you will enter a world where there will be no more pain, no more tears, no more sorrow.
If you have no faith in the future, then you have no power in the present. If you have no faith in life beyond this life, then your present life is going to be powerless. But if you believe in the future and are assured of victory, then there should be a dance in your step and a smile on your face.

That is the blessed assurance that the believers of Christ have and it will forever stand true for He who promised is faithful. The victory over death is yours yet the victory against life’s daily struggles depends on one’s faith and obedience to God.
I am a failure in my daily struggles. Fear and self always tends to overcome me. I am no blind follower and always tries to seek reasons in everything. I always seek to understand yet life doesnt reveal everything to us. For if everything is revealed… then there is no need for faith. That is where I lose.

Parokya ni Edgar is a Filipino band that was formed in 1993 by a group of Ateneo high school students. The band is famous and most lauded for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of famous songs. With several years in the music scene, it has transcended musical genres, varying styles from one to another - alternative rock to pop rock, funk to rapcore, and so on without leaving behind its trademark style of providing comic relief to their listeners. Amici di Don Bosco
February 22, 2007
I recently visited the haven of my comfort foods.. Amici di Don Bosco. They did some minor fixing of the place which made it finer than before. The posters and reminders on the tables were removed and you can now order everything in their three counters.
We ordered for a Tagliatelle al Pollo e Prosciutto or simply say number 19 to avoid all that pronunciation problems.
It is an Italian pasta with chicken and ham served in white sauce for 180 pesos. Pastas ranges from 150 to 180 with their house special, Risotto alla Milanese con Ossubuco, for 250 pesos. Serving size is good for one person but if you plan of ordering for a pan of pizza as well, you can split it up in two.
We also ordered for a Fantasia, a pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella, bacon, mushroom, and egg. It was kind of weird seeing an egg yolk on top of the pizza but in fairness, it tasted good. By the way, all 26 variations of pizza costs 250 pesos only.
Amici di Don Bosco is located in Pasay Road corner Pasong Tamo, Makati City.

MisCARventures!
February 20, 2007
Jeff got his car last Thursday and so by Saturday, we were on our first road trip. With his mom as our guide, we head off to Antipolo Church in order to have the car blessed. We arrived around 4:30pm and within 30 minutes and a cash donation, we accomplished what we came for.
We were about to head back when a lady approached and greeted him and his mom. It turned out to be his grade-school teacher who is religiously going up to Antipolo church asking the Lady of Peace and Good Voyage that her family’s petition be approved. Since she was also heading back to Manila, they decided to give her a ride home and delay our plan of satisfying our hungry stomach afterwards.
After dropping her off, we then picked up his sister from work. Together with his nephew and niece, we went to Chowking in Nagtahan. It was there that the brand new car received its first scratch.
Blame it on being hungry, tired, and kids crying in unison.
Then last night, the car encountered its first “hulidap ((asking money from a person in exchange of pardon upon apprehension))“. There was a checkpoint installed exiting Chinatown area and since the car had no plate number yet, the policeman asked for his license and LTO registration receipt. Unluckily, he forgot his wallet with the license in it. Good thing though that we were with his mom who did all the “plead for understanding“, otherwise the car would have been impounded. After the negotiations, we then proceeded to where we were actually going… Chowking Pedro Gil.
Whether the jinx was me, his mom, or destination Chowking, that I do not know. But by the looks of it, that car desperately needed another blessing.
Why Worry?
February 18, 2007
As much as I can, I’ll share to you my insights and reflections every Sunday with Max Lucado’s online devotional to serve as a guide. Why him? Because for me, he is one good narrative writer who can translate well what the Guy Up There feels.

“Continue praying, keeping alert, and always thanking God.”
Colossians 4:2Two words summarize Christ’s opinion of worry: irrelevant and irreverent. “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not” (Matt. 6:27 NLT). Worry is irrelevant. It altars nothing. When was the last time you solved a problem by worrying about it? Imagine someone saying, “I got behind in my bills, so I resolved to worry my way out of debt. And, you know, it worked! A few sleepless nights, a day of puking and hand wringing. I yelled at my kids and took some pills, and—glory to worry—money appeared on my desk.”
It doesn’t happen! Worry changes nothing. You don’t add one day to your life or one bit of life to your day by worrying. Your anxiety earns you heartburn, nothing more…
Ninety-two percent of our worries are needless! Not only is worry irrelevant doing nothing; worry is irreverent, distrusting God.

I am a worry rat and thus, guilty of irreverence. Worry shows lack of trust that God is able to take care of your needs. Worst case, it shows that you don’t trust God at all with the affairs of your life. It shows that you are on the steering wheel and have not totally surrendered to His will.
In my case I think it is tha latter. I believe that God is able but I have not surrendered to His will. I have clinged to myself more than I have clinged to Him. One thing I have learned in life, you cannot entrust to God one aspect of your life while taking control of the other. He shares no glory.
