Counting The Blessings

January 1, 2007 · Print This Article

I was a born pessimist. However, today I wanted to make an exception. I don’t want to start this year filled with negative vibes so I’ll be looking back to the year that was and try to recall the things that I’m thankful for as well as lessons learned in 2006.

01. I am thankful that we managed to won the gold award in the quality campaign before I left the company. It was the first for our unit and I was grateful that I was a part of it;

02. I am thankful for the friends I met along the way. Friends with and without faces;

03. I am thankful for a good summer vacation;

04. I am thankful for the text messages I continually receive that inspires me and brighten up my day;

05. I am thankful for being one of the godfather of a good friend’s son;

06. I am thankful that our family manages to survive life in the Philippines, for being able to eat more than three times a day at our liberty;

07. I am thankful that despite the number of typhoons which visited the country this year, the worst thing that happened to us was to lose a couple of G.I. sheets from our roof;

08. I am thankful for having a best friend that manages to understand and bear my complicated personality;

09. I am thankful that friends entrust me with their problems and secrets despite the headache that goes with it;

10. I am thankful that though I was unemployed for quite some time, I can still manage to eat the foods I want to eat and watch films I wanted to see;

11. I am thankful for the fears I managed to conquer and a new opportunity to face fears still unconquered;

12. I am thankful that I have learned to understand my father thus, becoming less critical of him;

13. I am thankful that the camera I purchased two years ago is still working fine;

14. I am thankful that I managed to learn Photoshop all by myself;

15. I am thankful for the “TAGS”, job interview, and training classes that made me understand myself a little more;

16. I am thankful for the transitional job that manage to sustain me for a few more months;

17. I am thankful for the hardships and heartaches that this year brought. If not for those, I would still be a soft-shelled creature that I was;

18. I am thankful for the freebie Timex watch;

19. I am thankful that though me, my mom, and my sister was sick just recently, there is really nothing much to worry;

20. Lastly, I am thankful for you who continually visit my blog though I was inactive for quite some time.

May all of you have a blessed and prosperous 2007. Though the psychics and fortune tellers are predicting tragedies to come, we will overcome.
