How To Stay Young

August 7, 2006

1. Throw out nonessential numbers.

This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends.

The grouches pull you down. (keep this In mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning.

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle.”An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.

Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on.

The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love.

Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health.

If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips.

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Super Maids

August 5, 2006

The right side of my head have been aching for the whole day and it gets worst everytime I stand or do some quick movement. So for now I will be retiring earlier than usual. However, I will be leaving you with an article sent by eBalita yesterday. Feel free to drop your reactions on the comment box and I will discuss it with you after I have been relieved of this headache.

GMA says RP will start training ’supermaids’

Looking for a maid who not only cooks and cleans but can also save your kid from a fire?

It’s not Superman, it’s a “supermaid,” according to Philippines President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who on Thursday announced a new training program for Filipino domestic helpers.

“We will be sending supermaids,” Arroyo said of a new training program during a round-table discussion on efforts to evacuate 30,000 Filipinos in Lebanon, most of them maids, and help them find new jobs.

Augusto Syjuco, head of the government’s Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, said the supermaid program includes instruction in first aid, evacuations from high-rises in case of a fire and other skills to help maids get higher pay.

“They are not just maids. They are really very well trained now,” he said. “If there is someone injured among the family they work for … how to get out of a fire in a high-rise building, all these are part of our upgrading program.”

Arroyo agreed. “They should (be able to) find jobs with families who will offer them high salaries,” she said.

About 10 percent of 86 million Filipinos work abroad, sending home at least $10 billion each year.

What The…?

August 3, 2006

I had a job interview last Tuesday and boy was I caught uprepared by her questions.

Question Number 1: If you were to spend a day with one person, living today or have lived in the past, who would it be and why?

I answered… I would probably want to spend a day with the president of the Philippines. I have some questions and doubts in my mind regarding the way she is handling certain issues and situations in her administration. Maybe spending a day with her will help me understand her behavior and actions. She doesn’t need to explain things to me, she just need to let me be an associate. Watching her up-close will be enough since actions speak louder than words.

Question Number 2: If I am a color-impaired person, how would you describe to me your favorite color?

I answered… My favorite color is green and since you are color-impaired, I would have to ask you to close your eyes. Now, picture yourself in a meadow surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers, the air brings with it a cool and gentle breeze. How do you feel? That is green.

My actual answers to those unanticipated queries were not as refined as my answers in this entry. Anyway I decided to post this questions hoping that you could share your thought about it. You could answer both or just choose either of the two. Come on now, give it a try! ;)
