"Sleepery" When Wet
July 9, 2006
I saw this kid yesterday who seems to be having the time of his life. He was tiptoeing back and forth on the yellow lines of the pedestrian lane during the rain. While most grown-ups are complaining about the discomforts the rain brings, most kids enjoy it.
Back when I was a kid, how I love to get soaked under the rain. However, my Mom wouldn’t allow me since it is easy for me to catch a cold. So I just indulge myself after the rain in paper boat racing with the neighborhood kids.
Now that the rainy season is here and I’m stuck inside the house without the need to get out, I again learned the pleasures it brings. As if with some magic, the chaotic world seems to slow down and turns calm and serene. For now, I guess I won’t be singing “rain, rain go away!”.
but would you?
Now Or Never

Webster defines success as a degree or measure of succeeding; favorable or desired outcome; also : the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.
Sir Noel, our unit director, previously shared to us that measuring success is basically relative. We don’t usually hear a person declare himself to be successful in life. Other people do that for him. Because more often, success is based on the opinion of the people around us. They compare us to their self-made measuring stick and declares us a failure should we be found wanting.
He goes on further by encouraging us to seek more for our self-fulfillment. That it doesn’t matter if people judge you as a failure as long as in your heart, you love what you are doing and you know that you wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
He’s words were a wise counsel. It was a blessing to have my officemates as my friends but job and career wise, I feel no fulfillment. Worst, no one sees me as a successful person. I took Sir Noel’s counsel to heart and I decided that it is time to leave the company. My promise land is waiting for me. It’s now or never.

Reversible?

I received this interesting information through a text message. I verified it and found it to be true.
Palindrome - a word, phrase, verse, or sentence that reads the same backward or forward.
- murder for a jar of red rum.
- never odd or even.
- no lemons, no melon.
- nurse! i spy gypsies! run!
- party boobytrap.
- was it a car or a cat i saw?
- yo, banana boy!
Too bad life doesn’t work that way. You can’t start at the opposite side of the bridge and expect to arrive at the same destination as the other. Life is all subtraction and division but no multiplication and addition. Something done in reverse gives out a different meaning. Every decision yields a unique outcome making life more exciting.
Be Ready To Rumble

After pouring out all my heartaches in life, a friend suggested that an image of Ganesh might help me overcome my obstacles. However, I think not. I appreciate the teachings of Hinduism but not to the extent of placing my faith in a Hindu god. However, even if it does work, im not sure if he can remove an obstacle if the obstacle is the person’s very self.
There is no crab pulling me down, there is no boulder blocking my way, nor a difficult situation that awaits me. I am my current obstacle. The war I have to wage is the war against my self. Only in defeating my fears will I emerge victorious.
~~~~~
Ganesh - the god of wisdom and the remover of obstacles, son of Shiva and Parvati, depicted as a short fat man with an elephant’s head.
By the way, congratulations to our Pinoy boxers in the Mano a Mano match. It was a well fought battle.
