A few weeks ago I went to a church mate’s wake. She was a blue baby blessed with 13 years more than what the doctors expected of her. She was admitted in the hospital and after some days, she was approved for release. Spent time with her family in the comfort of their home. Went to bed and fell asleep where she met with the Lord. It was a peaceful parting.

It was in her wake where I last saw her mom. Who upon seeing me, held my arms and simply said, “Uy Ronnie! Na miss kita..” Tita testified earlier regarding God’s presence in her daughter’s situation. How He helped the whole family accept such painful truth and other blessings He bestowed to them.

As she was about to speak in the program I expected her to cry. She didn’t. She gladly accepted God’s will. Such firm character. Such brave woman. Such strong mother.

It was only yesterday when I learned that she had undergone CT Scan when she slept for five days following her daughter’s death. She again went to sleep and never woke up. She was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and met with God in the same way as her daughter did.

My heart is heavy as I write this entry. I know that she wants all of those who knew her to celebrate her life rather than mourn for her death.

Tita, it was a great blessing for me to know you and your daughter.

By the way, I wore black for Valentine’s Day.
